D4; the latest powerhouse from Nikon.

About the Nikon D4.

16 megapixel
10 frames per second.

The sound of that mirror & shutter going 10 frames per second is really something.

Not getting at you (:flirt:) but another recent major camera release in the D800 class was the Canon 5D3, which has lower resolution than the D800 but surpasses it in several other ways. The D4 is being matched by the 1DX, which is not out yet but promises to be a game-changer.

Interesting side note, the prices on the Canon 5D2 have come down a bit since the introduction of the 5D3.

Yes, and pretty well all the benefits of the 5D3 relate to ease of getting a photograph, not the quality of the final image. If you don't need (especially) the fantastic autofocus of the 5D3 I'd say now is an excellent time to pick up a lightly used 5D2. Given that I have a 5DC I was never going to pay the price for a new 5D2, but at say $1000 off I start to get interested. The AF system is awful - only the center point works reliably, though that is very good - but the IQ is absolutely superb. It's not for nothing that the 5D2 outsold the D700 many times over, despite the D700 being the best "all rounder" either of them made. Ironically the natural successor to the 5D2 is the D800, and that for the D700 is the 5D3. Canon and Nikon seem to have swapped roles - Nikon now make ultra-high resolution cameras (with all of the problems that go along with that), and Canon now make the finest "all rounder". A friend who uses D700s (three of them) underwater is extremely annoyed at the release of the D800, as it's useless for him. The 5D3 is absolutely perfect, but he sold all his Canon lenses when he went to the D700... He has to change, as the magazines he shoots for won't accept 12/13mp pictures any longer.

Nauticam has just announced a housing for the Canon 5D mark III. article here.

They say it will begin shipping in June. In this article they have lots of photographs taken just this week in Bonaire with this housing.

Reef Photo is taking orders for the Nauticam housing for the 5D mark III.

Subal announced they are designing a housing for the 5D. I am not aware that they have started shipping yet.

Nikon may have been the undisputed king of underwater photography for the last few weeks, but with housings now available for the Canon 5d mark III .... let the underwater shooting begin!
