Everyone should have a safety sausage or an SMB (Surface Marker Bouy). To use that marker WHILE you are doing your safety stop you need a small reel... one type that is easy to use, easy to travel with and easy to pack/store is called a "Spool reel". This particular reel has 75 feet of line while similar models sell for the same amount with only 50ft of line. This spool is made from high quality plastic that is highly resistant to cracking and breakage...unlike cheap knockoffs. It's easy to use and come with a heavy duty stainless steel double ended clip to clip the spool off to prevent the line from running as well as help you rewind the line.

So add one of these to YOUR dive bag...and we'll give you free lessons on how to 'shoot a bag' or 'deploy your SMB/safety sauaage' on your next SD trip.

DSS's 75ft Finger Spool is the perfect amount of line for a safety sausage or for use as a measuring tool...only $23 includes shipping.

 • 75 ft DuPont fiber braid line provides strength and minimizes fraying.
 • Uses #24 braid line giving 220-lbs of breakage strength.
 • Injection molded polycarbonate spools resist breakage and cracking.
 • Large Marine grade stainless steel double ended bolt snap is rust and corrosion resistant.
 • 6 oz

I would, but I've already got one!

FWIW I prefer 25' of line myself. Much more manageable...

25 is ideal if you have no drag and you are doing a 20 ft stop. A bit more line allows you to use it for other purposes and also snarl it up once or twice...cut and still have a usable spool! You know beginners misluck??? ;)

For use with a DSMB I greatly prefer a fully enclosed reel, a well designed one that will not tangle almost regardless of what you do with it. I also prefer a (simple) ratchet that locks the reel every revolution unless I actively override it. Mine has 120ft of line, which I have rarely found inadequate - but if I choose to use just 25ft that's fine. But I know my preferences aren't shared by everyone!

I figured there was video of that cl*sterf^ck somewhere.:lmao:

It would have been fine if certain other well meaning divers hadn't come in the try and "help" LOL.

So now you know why I like the bare minimum amount!

Here's a minor modification I did for mine..Cost about $2.00 Always lookin to improve things. If you notice in the pix I took a 1/2" PVC T. I put that through the hole. Then get another pvc coupling & glue it on the opposite end.You now have something to hold the spool with and it can spin..The other addition I did is to add a knob. This is also at a local Home Depot/Menards store.Secured with a screw.
Pictures to come..... maybe ..

I give.... Tried gallory etc..
