The fires in Colorado Springs and other parts of the state are out of control. My sister's neighborhood near Garden of the Gods just came under mandatory evacuation. Many homes have burned and the Air Force Academy has been evacuated.

God bless all the firefighters who are tirelessly battling these fires in Colorado right now.

Please send your thoughts and prayers for all those involved. Thanks!

My prayers go out to everyone involved! Dear Lord.....Pease MAKE IT RAIN!
Handle every stresssful situation like a dog.
If you can't eat it or play with it,
Just pee on it and walk away.

I'm so sorry to hear that, Clint. Just heard from my sister. They moved last year from out by the Flying W Ranch on Rossmere to Kissing Camels. That house on Rossmere and the kids' old school has already burned down. She is very glad they moved. But only time will tell.

:cheerleader: Have evacuated friends staying with me now. Unfortunately, their house did not make it. Mom, dad, two kids , 2 dogs and a very unhappy cat are with me for a while!!! Happy :angel2: :angel2: to help. One of my favorite places from younger years camping the Flying G Ranch was totally destroyed :tears:

The combination of the pine beetle kill of the lodgepole pines coupled with one of the driest springs on history is turning this into the worst fire season ever in Colorado. I think its already past 2002 when the Hayman fire led to the governor coming out stating the the entire state was burning!

:thankyou: Thank you Kathy!! It is so sad to here about the loss of someone's home. It's just heartbreaking! :tears: I keep watching the latest fire perimeter map and praying it won't creep into my sister's subdivision.

An update, this fire has devastated the Colorado Springs area. Sadly there have been 2 comfirmed deaths :tears: :tears: . The real angels are the family of 7 that took in another family of 7 that they had never met before. Happily the dogs and unhappy cat are jumping in the spirit of things and finally getting along. A truce of sorts. My dogs that have never been around cats, found out the the new toy has claws !!!!!! Luckily no serious injuries yet :clapping: . It's going to be a very long recovery for all of the fire areas in Colorado. So many tourist attractions have been destroyed or put on hold while the fires are being contained. Hopefully this will be the worst of the incidents.

I have a cousin in Durango. She e mailed me yesterday & related the information below.Thought the members would like to hear more details...

Greg,
Thanks for the email. Yes there have been alot of fires in Colorado. We have had 5 out of the 8 in the state here in the SW in Colorado. 4 are out or almost out but the Weber Fire is 45 min west of here and it only about 30% contained. We are extremely concerned and have extremely dry conditions so as of now our house and property are ok but that could change any minute with lightening or someone being very careless !!!! The whole state isn't going up in flames but the fires in Colorado Springs are terrible and cover alot of miles and acreage. Lightening from the dry storms has sparked most of them. 2 fires out of the 5 here in SW Colorado were human stupidy. They are still investigating the ones in the NE part (Colorado Sp.)of the state. There was an article today in the paper that the tourists are still coming to Durango for the river rafting, the train and everything else we offer here so that is good. Not many cancellations all the resorts and hotels said.
