After just completeing my Rescue class ,this was a interesting story to watch last night.I'll be brief with some details of the story.

I'm wondering if anyone watched the story of the couple that dove in the BVI.The accident/death happened a few yrs ago. They were both from the Mass. area.He owned a dive shop David Reid was his name & she was a Teacher. They go on a vacation to the BVI,Turks & Cacos to be exact & on the one dive she ends up drowning. Her experience is in the 300 dive range. He finds her approx 8 min into the dive, on the bottom w/out reg in mouth.Brings her to the surface and gets her in the boat.Distress call is made.Another boat near by comes to assist & he refuses the o2 & cpr. Husband wanted her dive gear to be "sold" After the incodent..Some of the evidence would leave you to beleive it was a case of a panic diver senario ,which in her own notes of her log book ,did note a few incodents of panic on her part.Or a husband that wanted the insurance $$.
The parents of his wife sued for wrongful death.Won & found guilty.,however he had filed for bankrupcy...no prison sentence here, USA.
The court now in the BVI,picks up on the verdict & pulls him in for trial there.Wins & spends 2-3 yrs in prison. His attourneys appeals, new Judge lets him off.

I missed it. Almost everything I've seen on TV related to something I'm deeply into - diving, flying, military, computing has been riddled with errors so I'm very skeptical about the so-called facts in evidence. It always seems like the "reporter" is determined to lead the audience to their assessment.

Having said that, I will observe I've seen many divers get themselves into a bad state, even with a lot of experience. So the side of the story that says a diver with 300 dives had a panic event doesn't make me doubtful it was "accidental". The ability of people to murder the ones they love(d) also never fails to amaze me, so the side that says he did something to cause her death doesn't surprise me either.

How's that for a totally "I have no clue" answer?
No aquarium, no tank in a marine land, however spacious it may be, can begin to duplicate the conditions of the sea. And no dolphin who inhabits one of those aquariums or one of those marine lands can be considered normal.

Yes, Jack & Theresa,
I agree the news media tend to intentionally sway the viewers.I was curious if anyone had seen it.I tried to find the link ,but could not.I thought Scubaski/Stan might have heard of this one, since it's in his neck of the country.

It would also seem like some use the sport to remove themselves of a bad relationship.Regardless, there were some grey areas of the husbands story.
