Man I need to get wet, all my dive buds comming back from Cozy and Holbox and I'm 35 days out from Cayman Brac. I need a quick fix. Buddy with me on a freedive. Lets Jump!! Check out the assisted propulsion unit on the mermaid!

I’m Impressed on clarity and crispness of the video. What a good video the Go Pro takes! I have been on the fence on this for a while but think the new waterproof housing is a dramatic improvement. As a bonus it would work great on the bike. It would also be fun on the slopes to capture my yard sale wipeouts!

I used my REI rebate this year to get the new GoPro and ordered the housing when it became available from GoPro. I'll have it on the Brac trip and will be the 1st time I've used it. They don't have a red filter, yet, and I can't afford to get a video light yet but it will be fun to try it on this trip. Hopefully it won't loose too much of the color at depth. But we will hopefully have some fun video from the trip

Looks to me that 1 of the freedivers attached the GoPro to a regular pistol grip UW flood light like the Princeton Tec Mini Wave LED.

I have a GoPro in the custom housing from Backscatter - that one does take a red filter. I have a crazy camera kit now....I mount the Go Pro on the top of my S90 Fix housing using a cold shoe, and I got a triple clamp for one of my strobe arms to carry a Sola light. Heavy, but I have a nice, compact video option for use on the fly when the right subject swims by I got the LCD backpack for mine. It hits the battery a bit hard (have a spare or two!) but it's a must have if you ask me. Without it, it is very hard to tell (impossible actually) if you are getting your subject framed correctly, or if you are all jittery or whatever. It comes with more backdoors for underwater and non-underwater use too.

I have been very happy with the GoPro underwater, although used for only one dive trip so far. This is a shark video I took in Roatan with nothing but the red filter, since they wouldn't let us use lights. Unfortunately I forgot to remove the trapped air bubbles under the filter, but the video still came out very well.

I have a longer duration movie that has a lot of footage taken by me with the GoPro and my friend with a JVC camcorder. What's cool there is you really can't discern what he took versus what I took - the quality is pretty much the same I'm showing that movie to our dive club tomorrow night and can post the link after that. GoPro has come a long way in quality of the their u/w product. And its in a price point that people can afford for many purposes. However they should NEVER promote riding or touching of wildlife especially with a Tiger Shark. And yes there are plenty of animals that get touched or handled by DM's and divers alike which does not make it right but they usually are limited to a geographical region. And its not captured on film promoting the behavior while trying to sell another product.

I am surprised that no one seems worried about that behavior.

I completely agree with you on this. Unfortunately GoPro does promote this type of behavior.

Then its appropriate to complain to them. If no one does then they don't know. Keep in mind they did not come from the dive industry but rather other areas so its a great way to help them NOT turn off customers without realizing it!

Anyone up for finding some contact info for them so we can all send them our concerns?
