I'm flying Detroit-Mexico City (on Delta). Have to spend a night in Mex. City, then on to Havana via Interjet (a Mexican company). The dive company picks you up at the airport and you have one night in Havana on both ends. If you want the links to the websites or the SB article, I can post them.
I realize there are details like getting my visa when I get to Mexico City. Cuba doesn't actually stamp your passport, only your visa. And when I wire the money for the trip, I can't say anything about Cuba on it, or it won't go through. And so on, and so on... I tried booking my Havana flight on a number of websites, including Cubana, but got hung up on any number of issues. Interjet is actually a nicer airline than Cubana, and supposedly more reliable. Aeromexico tends to be coy about booking flights for Americans.

Greg, it is interesting you should mention it. I'm planning a dive trip to Cuba in the next six months on the Avalon I that takes you to the Jardins de la Reina. There are lots of sharks and there was a great trip report about its sister ship the Tortuga on SB recently. It's fairly inexpensive.

I believe it is the same liveaboard (or at least the same fleet) that Kamala is considering for the SD trip. I just didn't want to wait. I'm letting her book it for me. And if anyone wants to join me, I'd love to have company.
