How's about Galapagos?

Galapagos is an amazing place and one that I want to return to as soon as I can. The best time is early fall but these times are ALSO pretty much booked for 2013 so you'd have to look at 2014.

We have several people seriously interested in Cocos and I have requested info on that to see what we are looking at using them.

AND I have a group that *may* book a Galapagos trip via us which our members could join in on. So is anyone else serious about Galapagos? I'll get some tentative pricing for you. Keep in mind it will be chilly low 70's for most of the dives although we got lucky and had high 70's which was awesome! AND the currents are strong so they overweight you to go in and you hang onto a rock and watch the critters swim by....what a show!

If I were to do the Galapagos or Cocos in 2013, that would pretty much rule me out for T&C (Labor Day & October/November just isn't doable for me). It might even take Bonaire off the table. It's a high class problem, though, to be having to choose between such great spots. Decisions, decisions!!!

Thank you for the input...this is a problem many of our divers have...they can do two or maybe 3 smaller trips (price wise) or 1 big one. These decisions are VERY hard which is why in order to STAY THE GREAT GROUP WE ARE...we are being very careful what we select BUT we are also ensuring we offer some great BIG TRIPS too in order to mix it up.

So keep giving us input...the more people that see this topic and help us decide the better!

PLUS we will be happy to book small groups of 1 or more people who really want to go somewhere but are not sure if SD will run a trip there so that is ALWAYS and option. Plus if we do not send a leader we have less overhead and can SAVE YOU MONEY on your bookings!

IMPORTANT SHAPING UP OF THE SCHEDULE...


Hey gang...regarding timing several things have started to shape up. First we've gotten great reports back about diving Fiji and Ed aka DiverEd who has been on MANY SD trips is working with me on what resorts and possibly even Nai the liveboard would work best for our group trip to Fiji.

I now recall that Fiji's winter is our summer so Sept is still way too cold for this WWW... warm water wuss. The temps in early Oct were only 71-75 per Ed's recent trip report HERE and that means they would be even cooler in Sept (high 60's to low 70's).

So that means Fiji is now a late late Fall trip or a winter option. And that means we can look at T&C again for Labor Day (I can even get a repeat $100 off per person discount for that date again) or we can look at doing the crossing trip from T&C to Bahamas Nov 2-9th. I put a hold on the boat for Labor Day but can change to the Crossing trip (which means no Halloween trip if we do it) but I would need your input!

I would be seriously interested in the Fiji liveaboard option, though it won't work for me in 2013, seeing as I'm going to San Salvador, just bought my plane ticket for Bonaire & am planning on doing the T&C Labor Day trip, if that is when & where it ends up being. Going for quantity this next year (not that I'm questioning the QUALITY!).

Thinking of Fiji, again, in 2014, or Cocos/Galapagos, or Maldives, or Truk, or...

That way I can plan ahead & save my pesos!!!

Thank you for the input... I am checking to see what we can do for fall 2013 timeframe still.

I just know we won't do Fiji for Labor Day and early fall...TOO COLD FOR ME.

That puts T&C back on the table for Labor day of 2013 or the transition trip where you start in T&C and dive and travel to Bahamas which is Nov 2-9.

Several members expressed interest in that trip but it would preclude us doing a Halloween trip so not sure how many people are interested in that option and/or not having a Halloween trip.

I don't like cold water, either!!! Had too much of it back in '85 when I was getting certified in CA, as well as when I was getting my instructor rating in the 40 degree lake. I don't even like to look at my 7mm, any more...

I'll go back & look at my log book to figure out exactly when I was in Fiji, as I didn't even wear a shorty when I was there. It was PERFECT.

Labor Day works well for me. Halloween doesn't. November is questionable.

Hey, Kamala,

Log shows that I was in FIJI in April. Again, it was spectacular. No wetsuit necessary.

T&C is sounding better & better. Would be my first liveaboard & I always dig diving with SHARKS. Can't say I'm interested in a shark feed like Diver Ed experienced in FIJI, though. I just like hanging out with them & scratching their bellies!!!

No belly scratching with the T&C sharks...well maybe an overly friendly small nurseshark!

They don't feed the sharks but they do follow divers hoping you kill a lionfish or 3 for them!
