I know this is an old thread but I've been out of the loop for a while now. We really need to set this up sometime. I backed out of doing much of anything online a couple of years ago when I started a new relationship that took all my time. Sadly I lost her and our son unexpectedly this month. So now I'm back and aching to dive to help get my mind off of everything. Who's game?

Welcome back Justin...just wish it was under better news but we'll work to get a Happy Hour going for you for sure!

So jump in and reach out to friends here...sometimes people a bit slow to respond but they will and you'll feel better because of it.

We'll even see if we can do an email blast to the AR peeps that we have...and we do have a number from your neck of the woods. We'll even see if we can get Bubski to join back in as well.

Hi Justin,

We have found certain cities (read: densely populated areas with relatively plentiful SingleDivers.com member lists) are better equipped to host a Happy Hour than others. That said, with a little planning and time for folks to work their schedule, there is every reason to expect a decent turnout for a Happy Hour in your area.

If you can contact a local venue which would be willing to host 15-30 people between, say, 6:00-9:00PM (ideally on a Friday or Saturday evening) sometime in January. That is because so many people have their holiday plans already laid out. I can then put out an email blast to SingleDivers.com members in your region to gauge interest. With the extra time available for planning, there is no need to rush; just post here sometime in the next week or so with the name and address of an appropriate place, along with two dates (preferred and alternate) and we can move forward from there.

Other members in AR please feel free to chime in with suggestions!

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I can't think of anything better than diving to help us out of troubled times. And what better way to get it started than to have a happy hour to meet some like minded folks!! It is sure to be a success when you've got WreckWench and Dive_Sail to help you get it going.

Thank you Dive_Sail_etc... that is exactly what I hoped we could do. Molly from the Roatan trip also lives in AR as does Susan ...both pretty active members. They can also usually help with HH's and other local things...if we ask them. It will be good for Justin and of course good for SDer's to meet up and get to know one another.

And thank you too Sissy...maybe a roadtrip for some of the Texas clan is just what Justin needs!

Thank you everyone. I've got bubski on facebook, I'll hit him up and see if he is available. It sucks having to go through what happened, but I know she is better off now. It ended up being complications from preeclampsyia, and it happened the day before they were going to induce labor... I was 200 miles offshore and work was already setting up a helo to get me onshore.

I'm bad about logging on, but rest assured I'll be back regularly... I work offshore and am going back to work after the new year, but I'll be back in February just in time for my annual unexpected cold water dive. It never fails that somebody calls me up and their boat/camera/dock has sunk in 20 feet of water and they heard that I dive and are wondering if I can help. I'm usually desperate enough to get wet that I do it too...

I've got a couple of places in mind for a meet up. And if you guys like BBQ I've got a great place in mind! Anybody from Arkansas has probably heard of The Whole Hog.

Please know you are in my prayers and those of our community...our hearts goes out to you.

Let us know exactly the dates you are not offshore...that will help us get something going for sure. And then keep us updated on your offshore dates so we can work around them and have some regular events around your irregular schedule!
