OK folks, fellow divers,
Anyone ever been diving in French Polynesia??? I've been doing a little research and it looks magnificent! I'm curious to know if anyone has ever been and if so, to which islands. There are no liveaboards and it seems like you have to plan all the island hopping yourself. I'd love to plan a trip there as it's (only) a 12 hour flight from the East coast and you don't cross the international time line.
Looking forward to hearing from anyone who knows...
thanks!

I'd be interested in your research and what others say as well. We are always looking for new destinations that our divers want to visit! kamala

Sorry this may be too late for you, but I just got re-activated with SingleDivers. One option is taking the Paul Gaugin small cruise ship out of Papeete and do the 10 day trip. They have a scuba program and it allows you to dive at all the good sites, like Bora Bora, Rangiroa, Fakarava, Moorea (mainily sharks; reefs are pretty dead there). I did this a year ago and Jean Michel Cousteau happened to be on my sailing, and I got to dive with him and his wife, which was a treat. I think he does 4 sailings a year. Hope this helps.
