Post some pics on our Facebook PAGE as we are trying to build that as well! Then you can 'share' them to group! Posted Image Posted Image

Hmmm... I was able to share them to the group but haven't found a way to do it to the page but will look again.

You may just have to post them to the page directly vs trying to share them. Then we'll highlight them! :cool1: Thank you! Kamala

I've been to Bonaire 4-5 times before but never in the spring and never with a dive group. I was amazed at how different some of my favorite sites were at a different time of year! I saw so many more turtles, seahorses, octopus and rays this trip than I ever have in January and some things I'd never seen before - like that electric yellow burr fish. GORGEOUS, GORGEOUS, GORGEOUS! I had a BLAST and feel like I made a boatload of new friends in the bargain. Many thanks to SD for and all the members onboard who made this such a great vacation.

This was my second trip with SD and again a fantastic time. Want to thank WW for all her work and help, especially when I have my senior moments.....Made a bunch of new friends, and appreciate them torlerating. The diving was great and like others have said some of the easiest diving I have ever done. And for those who haven't heard, we bullied and converted a diver who was there alone to SD, who will be a great addition to the family. Thanks to Butch for putting up with me hogging the dive locker. It was great and can't wait to go on another trip.

Well, trip #2 in the books & all I can say is that it went off without a hitch, really. Getting there was easy. Finding the group in Houston was easy. Customs was easy. Whenever there was a challenge with the dive or wait staff, Kamala rectified the situation, immediately. Constant improvement all week. I would expect nothing less. The diving was super easy!!! Bonaire is a destination for divers of all stripes. Very beautiful. Variety was really nice. Chez J's was a great surprise. Another wonderful experience, all around. Plenty of new friends & lifelong memories. Can't wait to get to the Turks & Caicos!!! Posted Image

So I've been looking at all the cool pictures everyone took, and I started thinking about getting a camera... do you have any recommendations? Any advice would be much appreciated! Posted Image

I've been doing some research and there is a lot of buzz around the GoPro Hero. Especially if you want to do video. Its a lot of camera for the money.

I've used a Sea Life camera and found it very good for beginners. I'm looking at getting a new camera since I damaged the one I have and can't get the button for taking a picture to work at times (it rolled off a bench on a trip last year in its case and hit right on the button... dented the camera's button and caused internal problems).

This site has a lot of good info on underwater photos, cameras and has a beginners camera article so is a good place to start.

There are things you should work on and think about before you start taking pictures though and these may not apply to you (I didn't dive around you much so don't recall your diving skills):

Get your buoyancy under control, weighted properly and think about how you would want someone with a camera to take pictures around you. The scruffy incident is a perfect example of what can happen when you put taking pictures above respecting your fellow divers.

I waited until I thought I was ready before getting a camera (well over 100 dives) and talked to other divers who dove with & without cameras before taking that leap.

Last thing - assume your camera will flood, you'll drop it (or it will roll off a bench Posted Image ) or lose the camera and be OK with not having the camera for the rest of the vacation. The good thing is most divers with a camera are more than happy to share their pictures with you if you ask.

Great advice Butch! Hopefully even though I don't have too many dives under my belt I didn't annoy anyone with my photography. As you said buoyancy is key for both being able to take decent photos as well as not harming the reef or annoying other divers.

Great website link for advice. Exploring that will occupy some time.

I'm too ADHD as it is to carry a camera! Plus, I enjoy sharing everyone else's photos because they are so much better at it than I am!
