Jerry is right. I traveled early to Palau and missed the San Francisco and I won't do that again. Plus since Jerry is former military we can probably check out the base in Guam.

Easy to get on base but don't expect to get into the NEX. Very restrictive. I could not even tag along with out permission from the base commander which takes weeks.

Also I liked the prior plan as well. Lots of middle of the night travel in this part of the world but with the right application of extra days days off and strategic hotel rooms, the exahustion is manageable.

As an interesting (to me anyway) flash bulb moment from the first time we did this. Jerry, Barbara, and myself walked into a Chili's on Guam during a day layover between the legs of the trip and that is where we heard that our boys got Bin Laden! We might have been among the first civilians to know, since the mainland US was safely tucked into their beds!

Jerry - Don't know how long it's been since you've been to HNL to see Pearl Harbor, but it's gotten a MAJOR facelift and is wonderful! Be sure to allow enough time to go at a leisurely pace through the exhibits. The actual time on the Arizona is only about 10-15 mins, but it's pretty moving. Also, as long as you are there, be sure not to miss the USS Missouri. That is AMAZING! It's a quick shuttle ride from Pearl Harbor and just WOW!

Also doing my budget now. I'm going to arrive in hnl a day early to visit the USS Arizona. Very high on my bucket list I might add.

I've never been to Pearl Harbor or Hawaii for that matter. So that's why I'm planning on making this little side trip a reality.

If it wasn't obvious by my other posts I'm interested in Palau. I would be attending both Truk and Palau. I had already posted my interest in the original thread for Truk. That still stands.

Thank you Mike. I'm putting the finishing touches on each one and will have them ready asap. Do not have a working computer in my house so working in the dive shop which is a 3 ring circus but getting used to the craziness and the uncomfortable chair and slow internet.... sigh... but its almost over with!

Hi Kamla,
I am interested in the combined Truk and Palau trips, could you add me to the lists, but don't relish traveling alone. Would people be meeting up in LA and traveling in a group?I would go along with whatever the group is doing.
I have AA miles and they are merging with United, so I might be able to use those miles for this trip.

Kerry AA is merging with USAir so your miles will not work. United is basically the only carrier.
