George the flights to DOM from SXM are $250 round trip via SD.com. Now you need to shop sales to SXM and that does go up and down. My ticket there was less than Bonaire so its just bad timing. What are you finding?

However Bonaire is great and as you say an 'easier' flight. Sometimes easy is better!

Yeah, Saint Marten is an overnight but only $700 RT, vs flights to DOM are currently showing up for $1700 RT.

Yeah I can't say that knowledgeably considering I haven't been to either. I definitely get the dilemma, but from what I've heard and read, it just seems for me it's a must see destination. If by the time this trip comes around to book, the travel costs are still that high, it may just have to fall into a big trip category. For now I'll hope for those alternate options :pray:/>

A challenge it is, but what truly great adventures aren't! The photos, trip reports, and articles I've read about Dominica are amazing, I want to dive it while it's still pristine!

For me, its between this and Bonaire. I probably won't do both. The challenge with Dominica has always been getting there.

But here is a question. Right now for me the cost of flights and length of travel time to get to Dominica is similar to Palau. Maybe between now and then there will be alternate options, but would you say the diving in Dominica is superior to Palau?

Hey, every Chez J's social club franchise is independently owned and operated, so if I'm not there, just setup shop because it just means I'm opening up shop at another one of Kamala's trips! :2cool:/>

What no Chez J????

If he can't make it, we'll adjust! Posted Image

I do hope you can make it, though...

Hey gang...let me try one more time...

If you book with SD and use our charter service from SXM Saint Maarten to Dom it is $250. You then have to get air to SXM which if its $700 then the roundtrip price is $950 which is the same price or cheaper for me to Bonaire and even Barbados. SXM can be as low as $500. You can also fly via LIAT to DOM via SJU which for some was very inexpensivew compared to going via SXM.

Trust me...if you price almost any destination out for a year in advance the prices are outrageously high. It used to be they were cheap but now they are HIGH.

Getting to St. Martin from the East coast certainly looks much easier (and cheaper) than Bonaire. San Juan may be the best bet from here. Right now its $300 cheaper than St. Martin($400 vs $700), and can be done w/o a red eye or overnight stay. Looks like a great option for 2014!

San Juan would definitely be best from here & a red-eye for me traveling East is always better than an overnight! Posted Image

Sounds very doable for me, depending on dates. Heck, I may even be able to bring my elder son along, as he'll be 18 by then! Posted Image

Dominica in the news..

Do not miss Dominica being featured on NBC this Saturday...
"NBC World of Adventure Sports, airing Saturday June 8th 2013, 4:00pm ET will feature Dominica through Host Spots, 3 segments of the Nature Island Challenge as well as a feature from Mike Escamilla of GoPro, all culminating in approximately 9-10 minutes dedicated viewing of Dominica."

Absolutely prefer Dominica over Bonaire, so get the dates confirmed so we can block the dates on our calendars for 2014 🐠
