Part time or full time?
Professional or semi-professional or other?
Younger or older?
Solo or part of a band?
Friends already or working on it?

And all of that may not make any difference and it may simply be "Any advice on dating" in general sort of thing.

I'm throwing my hat in this conversation because I recently got a piece of advice on this topic. While, on a date I got asked if I played any instruments? I said yeah, the drums. She said, "oh no". I laughed and said well I play the drums if you count a high school band I played with, and at best I was ok. She looked relieved, so I asked her why. She said its the really good and really bad drummers you have to worry about, the ones in between are ok. So here's to being mediocre! Lol

Part time or full time?

Pat time. I play bass for Opulent and he plays drums for Epic Death. We both have day jobs.

Professional or semi-professional or other?

Well we both make money playing. Sometimes.

Younger or older?

Younger, of course! (do you even have to ask? Posted Image)

Solo or part of a band?

LOL, we're the rhythm section. we don't play solo

Friends already or working on it?

Working on it. We know each other through our respective bands. He likes to travel and that's a BIG plus.

And all of that may not make any difference and it may simply be "Any advice on dating" in general sort of thing. Posted Image

I know. Dating drummers has been the butt of jokes for ages. I'm just being a smartass. Posted Image

I should not even be posting about such things but I get bored while my computations run.

But seriously if the only thing I get out of it is a travel companion, I'd be ecstatic.

Hey I play bass and we're both in metal bands. Posted Image. How does that bode?

First off you can be bored here ANYTIME!!! We  it!

Secondly I had no idea drummers had such a rap... or is that bang...or... er nevermind!

Third...you KNOW this forum has great advice for ALL stages of relationships...those getting started, those that are progressing and those that are not...and those that are ending.

The trick is to ferret out the good advice from the other...of course what's good for one may not be good for another...one size does NOT fit all in dating! LOL! ;)

Um, so you met a guy, got to know him a little (enough to think you'd like to know him better), you share at least three very important passions: travel, music and diving, AND he has a job; and you want to know if you should go on a date? I'd be jumping all over an opportunity like that - it's rare, at least in my experience, to meet someone who shares so many common interests and who isn't a tool or already married or looking for a sugar mama or mother - or all of the above! As for him being a drummer, who cares? Since when does a person's profession/hobby/passion dictate whether he's a good person? I dated a neurosurgeon who was a complete jerk and abusive and a Hell's Angel who was a total teddy bear -can't always believe typical stereotypes. Go for it! As you say, even if you end up with a friend to do the things you already both enjoy, you both win. Good luck!!

Teresa did you say he was a diver? If not, well it might be a deal breaker for some of us.

WHOOPS! My bad. So, revision - 3 out of 4 (travel, music, job) - take him to the dive store on the first date and sign him up for scuba lessons! Posted Image
