HAPPY NEW YEAR 2015!!!! We're Celebrating the New Year in The Apex of Diving...GALAPAGOS aboard's EV's liveaboard...Dec 29th to Jan 5th, 2015 + 3 days on the front end to ensure bags arrive and to do some touring so traveling Dec 26 or 27. (Fly into airport code UIO (Quito EC) for group transfers or Guayaquil if you wish to meet the group on your own.) - NOTE: We have half the boat as I sold the other half to a dive shop. That means we have 8 spots. We could get more or lose a few depending on how the sales go between us and our partner dive shop!

Cool Susan! I'll add you to the list! Since this trip is split with a dive shop (Had one that took the full boat but had to give it back and found one that took half the boat so we only have 8 spots for THIS trip).

WOO HOO!

Quick note---- the airport code for Quito is UIO, not "qui" as posted in the entry info.
The city is around 9,000 ft elevation and can be cold/chilly all year, especially if raining or cloudy.
This new airport is about an hour outside of town if the traffic is mild. I would certainly plan to stay at the airport the night before my departure flight to avoid any surprises.

Thanks for the tip Susan, I will update the top post with the correct airport code for Quito. :thankyou:

I did the Galapagos trip in April last year. At the time, there were no hotel options close to the new airport, so we stayed an hour away. Dont know if that has changed or not. Kamala did assist with the trip, so I expect that she is using the same contacts for your trip as well. We were met at the airport after we picked up our bags, and cleared customs. No issues at all. On the day that we were heading out to the islands, we were picked up at our hotel by a husband and wife couple. The wife escorted us into the airport, through check in, and said good bye to us as we were sitting down to wait for our plane, as her husband stayed outside with the car. As a person that does not speak any Spanish, I was extremely happy to receive that level of service. I did have some apprehension prior to the trip, but was amazed at how smoothly it went.
