So, I saw the free 200K trip insurance that is included with any booking through Rovia (if I understood that correctly). I wonder how many people have ever used this and if so, what are their thoughts on using Rovia? I don't usually like going through 3rd parties to book my airfare but with this added benefit thought that maybe it's worth it? The pricing on the flight that I'm looking for is the same here as it is anywhere else it seems so no loss there.

What are your thoughts/experiences with Rovia? Is there somewhere different that you go to get a good deal on airfare?

I'm not sure a lot of people have used it but I know several have saved a lot of money. The only drawback I've seen is that when you book it says that a request has been sent to secure your air...and then you wait for a confirmation email. It has always come thru but it can be a bit stressful waiting to see if you *really* booked the air or not.

The $200k of free insurance is personal insurance in case you are hurt or injured and not trip insurance in case your bags or lost or the miss the trip. HOWEVER if all things are equal then the free insurance is worth it for the same or better pricing. I've never seen Rovia charge more but I'm sure it can happen.

They are ESPECIALLY good on hotel bookings...but the pricing can chg quickly. I was using it to book a room for the MD Dive sow and when I first checked I could say over $100 on the booking for 3 nites and when I checked again the savings was gone. So if you see a good price...you need to book it. Check online first and then check them. That way if you get a good deal you can book it.

ALSO...you need to be registered and logged in as a "preferred customer" to get the best pricing. Its like a rewards thing for registering. Again you need to be logged in when you search or else you just see standard pricing.

If you are still looking for a good travel & dive insurance, I use DAN and it is pretty cheap for one time annual payment. From what I have read, you get all your moneys worth if you ever have to use it.

Yes Sir! That's my next step. I literally just finished booking my airfare! I decided to go directly through the airline because if something happens it's easier to get it all worked out as far as moving flights etc. Now it's time to research Trip and Dive insurance. ACK! So Much to take in but SO EXCITING! Posted Image

We have had more and more success and 'wow...they did that" stories using www.DiveAssure.com for both diving and trip insurance.

Ask anyone who has filed a claim how cheap their insurance was and you'll hear them say they intend to spend a couple of bucks more and go the diveassure route.

I personally buy both DiveAssure and DAN for dive insurance but since DAN is secondary meaning you pay out of pocket first and they reimburese and they only cover things not covered by other policies...I just use them as a back up.

DiveAssure is primary insurance has higher limits and goes the extra mile providing services that make a huge difference if you are the one who needs them.

Call or pm me for more info. ALSO check the end of our trip listings for our reference numbers for either company you go with. It helps us help you if you need to have someone call on your behalf. And if you are on our trip...it will be ME calling! :thankyou:

Awesome! I will add them to the list to research. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions on this one.

I also have both diveassure and DAN for dive insurance. DAN is my backup, and diveassure is my primary dive insurance and trip insurance.

The $200k free life insurance applies only to the air. But all things equal...why not? And many times Rovia is cheaper!

Be careful about reading the fine print on the airline provided policy - I had to claim against my airline policy one time and even though I had purchased a policy for the "whole trip", hidden way down in a sub-sub-sub paragraph, the trip reimbursement was limited to about $1100, regardless of true cost. I got burned for about $300 and learned a valuable lesson.
And on the eighth day, God said "OK, Murphy, you take over."

2 weeks ago I attended a presentation at my LDS about a 'vacation club' called DreamTrips/WorldVentures. Apparently, they want to break into the scuba trip biz, the LDS also owns a boat in Cozy. You pay an initiation fee of $200 and monthly dues of $55/mo, all of which is returned $ for $ in 'points' for their trips. One of the perks is an account on Rovia, which also credits points to your account for airline bookings. To shorten the story, I've decided it's not for me, since I like to plan my trips far in advance.

Time on earth is precious, time underwater even more so. Live life one day at a time. Dive your @$$ off!!!
