Hi all. I'm coming late to this party so I'm fine with whatever tour choices the collective brain trust have made. Not sure what else I need to do to make sure I hook up with everyone with the flights Kamala made for me, but, I'm ready to go.

A little concerned about weight limitations on bags; Is everyone overweight (bags that is)? Got everything pretty pared down but still overweight, do we just pay the overage fee and we're good?

Yes that's the benefit of being part of a group. You just pay the overage and you'll be ok. :thankyou:

I did a trial packing last week, but that was with a carry on and a personal bag.  I think that is how I will pack for flying on AA to Quito.  Then I will rearrange my bags for the flight to San Cristobal.  I will be either right on or slightly over using 2 checked bags and 1 carry on.  Aerogal's website has a list of a few things that you can bring besides your carry on, one of which is a women's purse.  They are not specific if it has to be a woman using the purse.   If a man is carrying a purse, is it no longer a woman's purse?  Not sure how to speculate their rules on that.   I will probably have to carry a camera case plus my carry on.  If it costs me, it costs me.

Just starting to pack. Two weeks out, and I feel like I'm getting a late start.

Keith it didn't say a woman's purse...just a purse so call it that and you'll be ok. ;)

Mary I won't pack until a couple of days before... so you are not late!

There is free wifi at the hotel and many restaurants. A Spanish phrase book is handy. Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper as the windows here don't block the city noise as well as a US hotel. But the rooms are nice. Dial zero to get hot water in the bath as they sometimes shut it off.
Bring US dollars and normal US electrical plugs. It was cool and cloudy here today. If you arrive before Friday night, contact us (Amy and Peter) with a note at the front desk. Room 1106. The restaurant at the hotel is good and open 24 hours.

See you in Quito! I will try to check the forums if you have questions.

Amy
