You've heard it said many times before. This is one of those cases where its true! The orphanage we support is like many homes ...one of need but unlike many homes...its full of love. This in spite of the fact that these kids have no parents, some no siblings and often not enough food, nor other supplies they need.
In the six years of supporting the kids we've gotten to know them pretty well and we'd like to have you get to know them as well. I'll be posting some pictures from our last trip so you can see the smiles and how little it truly takes to produce those smiles!
Almost everyone who has joined our excursion to the house where the kids live...have been touched as was I at the joy that radiates from these kids DESPITE not having nearly the things that many very unhappy people have....and yet these kids find a smile most of the time regardless.
A couple of trips ago, we discovered that while our donations of school supplies are greatly appreciated and our donations of 'life supplies' (deodorant, toothpaste, etc) is greatly needed...nothing is needed more than food. And it hit me... everything else pales by comparison if you are hungry.
So two of our very gracious members went on a shopping trip to buy supplies. The house kindly gave me a list of the things they needed and this very special and very caring team set off to get as many things on the list as they could. WOW!!! About 7 shopping carts later...they had filled the car AND soon the stomachs of the kids at this very sweet and loving home.
Sadly these two amazing members are not on our trip this year...but we'd LOVE to have another team follow in their footsteps.
Would anyone like to help go shopping for food for the kids? We can make donation pledges and bring the cash to Roatan and have our FOOD TEAM then go do the shopping. We'll ask the hotel to help with transportation as they love the home too. I'll start off and make a $50 donation which is higher than most can or will do. AND its higher than we are asking for. $10-25 is what we are asking for if you care to donate!
