Then this morning there is a two sentence e-mail that changes the entire equation. "Can you leave Thursday for a week of research and video work with great white sharks off Guadalupe Island?" How could I refuse!

Two words for you, my friend: You Suck.

Don't worry, Jamie... the video camera and housing are already packed! Looks like there will be three vessels down there and plenty of opportunities to dive as well as shoot the work topside. I'm sure you will all be lined up to buy a copy of "Sharks and Rays" when I get it out in February or so. Of course, Jamie, the two of you are welcome to come up and watch the footage when you're out next.

I don't think I'm going too far out on a limb speaking for all us SD.com guys, but I think we're ALL interesting in learning about your amature narration! Gotta love a girl who's vocal!!

Thanks for the offer, very much looking forward to taking you up on it. That last weekend we were there would have been a perfect day, since it was too blown out to even get in the water. Did they get the marker buoys reset? I've never seen anything like that wind and surf!

Just returned from Guadalupe. We had to cut the trip short by a day and a half due to increasing swell and a forecasted storm (that apparently didn't materialize). Despite only four dives in the cage, I was able to get some decent footage of the great whites. We had at least 15 individuals sighted, 12 of which were tagged with satellite beacons.

I was totally impressed with the beauty of these animals. I disagree with those who talk about their cold black eyes... I saw a certain "sadness" in them. Perhaps they prefer to be lovers rather than munchers!

As for the dive park, Jamie... don't know if they got the boundary buoys back in place. I hear we are due for another blow this week, so it may have to wait given the other preparations the harbor department has to address for the next storm.

It almost hurt to re-read this thread and realize the M&M DVD was supposed to be out nearly 6 months ago.

Well, I did get the voice of Gary Baldi to finally record his part and have it out for sale at one of our local dive shops to test the market. That owner found the narration humorous. Interesting thing is that the manager of the other dive shop on the island won't carry it because he doesn't like Gary's comments and voice.

So, I'm working now (4/28) on recording some new segments and modifying Gary's a bit to tone it down. Hope to get version 1.1 out by the end of next week. Will send a copy to WW and if she approves it will be available on SD.com soon (but not soon enough to be last year's Christmas present... you can be like my Mom and shop early for this year to avoid the crowds).

I'll also have a DVD of the Guadalupe great whites for sale through WW and SD.com. If you single divers buy enough of them, I can join you on some of the trips (hint, hint).

Hey, just updating this thread to let you all know that the third DVD on the Giant or Black Sea Bass should be ready for sale by the 15th of this month. Unfortunately the Sharks and Rays project mentioned earlier was chewed up by one of the 9 hard drive crashes, but it will be revived soon since there was a tape copy of it that survived. Also my [n]western Caribbean[/b] and Sea of Cortez DVD's should be available by March or April of this year now that I've solved my computer problems.

Thanks for all the support. Thought I'd give everyone an update. The DVD has its draft narration set up. I'm just waiting for the voice of Gary Baldi to be free enough to record his part of the narration, then tweak it a bit and I'll be ready to fly!
