Anyone have any good ideas on how to get ready for bikini weather? Its time to get rid of the pounds that have crept up over the winter and holidays! What are your exercise and weight loss tips for getting ready for spring and summer?

Eating correctly and being more active.  ;)

The trick is to make it your priority and not letting anything (including daily life) get in the way.

I devised a great way to prepare for bikini season, until I saw how rediculous I looked in a bikini.  Now I just live life, and stick to a one piece.

I'm sure the Wench will get a kick outta this!!!

I've found the best way to lose weight is, 4-5 dives a day from a liveaboard, and you don't have to worry about what you eat. [Does the EAN help you metabolize??] Each time I've returned from a dive trip, I've lost weight, so 'Dive ur @$$ off'!!!

Personally, I start the day w/a shot [gave up liquor a couple years ago, when a dear friend found his days are numbered because he only has 10% liver function] of Mother Braggs organic vinegar, followed by a slug of OJ [gotta get ridda that taste]. Also, have another shot as I begin preparing dinner. Breakfast is usually oatmeal w/b-berries, grits [both with a tbl ea of ground flax seeds & organic flax oil], or a smoothie made w/frozen fruit.

Lunch is simple - an apple, sometimes w/a half cup of lowfat organic yogurt.

Dinner alternates between a large salad [including 2 tbl ground flax seed & 1 tbl of flax oil] or a small portion of 'white' meat, smoked pork lion, chicken thigh, or fish along w/a veggie. I reserve red meat for one night a month, the night of the full moon [tonight!!!] when I go for it a 16-20 oz steak, baked potato [but do sub flax oil for the butter], and some broccoli.

I try to keep up with exercise throughout the year, but March through November I do a weekly cardiac stress test - I mow the yard [no rider, yet] - I call it HELL'S HALF ACRE. I live on a cul-de-sac, so I have a big back yard, w/a 22' drop in elevation over 110' between the house and back fence. I figure, if I can mow w/o a heart attack, I'll be good to go for another week.

Don't know if that helps you, but maybe it'll get ya started.

ps - Ed - don't forget the SPF 30 - wouldn't want you to get burned 'cheeks'

I still look terrible in a suit - just had to get a new wetsuit - my old one 'shrunk' - why don't they make one for a 3X torso & only an XL butt

Some useful tips from my nutritionist and personal trainer:

- increase the water you drink. Hunger is sometimes actually thirst disguised as hunger. Drink more, and it may help with the hunger pangs.

- exercise more. Start off slow, once or twice a week, and work up a sweat. Cardio doesn't do as much for fat burning as weight training. And no, we're not talking Mr. Universe here. Small weights, 5lbs or so to start. Do some research on line and find 6-8 exercises that you can do. If you want to get tone and muscle strength, do 2-3 sets of 15 repetitions each. For muscle bulk, go with higher weights, and 6-8 reps. And make sure to include "squats" as one of those exercises. Get your leg muscles working, and your whole body benefits.

- journal all the food you're eating. This isn't for judgement, but to record what actually goes in your mouth! Once you have a record of what you're actually eating, then you can trim off some excess. Try treats once a week instead of every day. And more veggies, please! Find some that you like, and eat them.

- get out and move more. Go for walks, bicycling, hiking. Take the stairs instead of the escalator or the elevator sometimes. Every little bit of movement adds up.

- don't expect big changes fast! Think of this like compound interest in a bank account. It starts small, and builds on itself. Every bit of exercise or proper eating is another deposit. The amount in the account grows slowly at first, but over time (say, a few months) if you're consistent you will start to notice differences in yourself. The account will have gotten larger.

- Be CONSISTENT! And don't get into all those diets out there. A real problem with them is that they say you'll get to a GOAL, and then you can stop. NOPE! Once you stop, all that weight comes back like a bad habit. Aim for somethng that YOU can sustain over time. If it's not doable every day, without feeling deprived, it's more effective.

Today is Saturday, which is "treat day" for me. So I have a brownie with my name on it!
