I still don't know anything about how this contest works? Can someone give me the details?
Thanks,

Some of our trips have costume contests. Usually they are the trips that are billed as "Single's Weeks". (No single is not a dating reference here...its a marketing term meaning no buddy or no roommate in the hotel/resort world.)
Usually we have a theme such as "Island Time" or "Tacky Tourist" and you create a costume related to that theme. We judge on originality as well as how well you interpreted the theme.
We ask for at least 10 participants because the cost of the prizes are very high...many of which are donated by SingleDivers.com, our partners and our resorts. Ten participants shows that there is enough interest and desire inside our trip going members so that our suppliers are comfortable in making nice prize donations.
We judge the costumes on the following criteria...
1. How well your costume meets the theme
2. How well each person "explains" what their costume is and how it meets the theme and why they should win
3. Audience response to your costume
4. How well you stay in character and or should we say.... go out of your normal character to become your new persona represented by the costume.
So its not always the fancy costume that gets the awards...often the best costumes are very simple but very creative and the participant really got into the costume and played the part.
The contest is usually on Thursday evening so people have a chance to settle in and/or round out any last minute items needed for their costume!
So hopefully this helps you better decide if you want to participate or not. We even give brownie points for shy people who come out of their shells so to speak to participate! Oh and *USUALLY* everyone wins a prize as we usually have more prizes than contestants.
Plan to join us...its a blast! And EVERYONE is a winner just for participating! And the contest is usually the BEST entertainment on the entire island! So at least plan to watch even if you don't participate!
