Hey gang! So you've planned and now made your iconic trip half way around the world. Only problem is the timezone changes are 7-14 hrs or more. How do you beat the jet lag? Or do you just let nature take its toll and suffer thru it?

At my age there aren't any shortcuts anymore. I stay rested try to avoid over indulgences and stay busy until it's bed time in the new time zone. I have to force myself to stay awake when I get to a cool hotel room halfway around the world after long flights and travel days. The easiest way I've found to do this is hit the ground running on the first day. go see something walk around and get to know the lay of the land. check out the local cuisine, anything to keep out the room and not take that nap that turns into several hours of sleep. All that does is delay the acclimation another day.

For me, the best tip I have for making the return trip home a little easier is to have another trip booked already. As for the jet lag issue, I have nothing that helps with that. I do often bring a pool float to give me a little more comfort on the longer airport layovers though. I get a lot of strange looks sometimes, but in truth, that probably isnt really related to the pool float.

When I am laying on a pool float, on the floor of the airport, I get a lot of looks. They seem to be split between great idea, and some king of strange look. The body sure appreciates being able to stretch out for a while, and it sure beats laying on the hard and dirty floor.
