Just read today that American Bank issued credit cards are not accepted in Cuba.

Only one out of Miami has just been granted permission.

“Only hotels and retail stores owned by Cuba's military allow the use of credit cards. These hotels are primarily located in properties confiscated from Americans,”

From our Embassy in Cuba.

U.S. ATM and Credit Cards

The American Citizen Services unit would like to remind all U.S. citizens traveling to Cuba  ATM and credit cards issued by U.S. banks do not work in Cuba yet. You have to arrive with enough cash to last you through the end of your trip.

I'm opting to get Euros or Canadian Dollars here use them there, keep dollars for home and avoid the 13% penalty fee for using dollars.

Any other suggestions?
