Hey gang...a couple of things...one its that time of year for one of my favorite charities to do their annual raffle. This organization buys school supplies, clothes, and small toys for needy children in Honduras, Costa Rica, and now Turks and Caicos. It started out as a Hurricane relief project in 1997 and has grown exponetially from there.
The organization is www.ToysForTheChildren.org and we had hoped to help with the toy distribution this year but it will end up being next year! We can however help with the fundraising and I hope that each of you can help in some small way and you may even receive a great present for yourself as an added bonus from the generous contributions of dive resorts, dive manufacturers and dive shops!
What: Raffle tickets $5.00 each

Who: Anyone who wants to help support this great charity and help make a difference this Christmas in the life of children.

You can purchase tickets from me in person at the SD Happy Hour and Holiday Party. You can also paypal your donation as well as send a check for your contribution. (I told Jimmy one of the founders that we would support his organization to the tune of at least 100 tickets. I hope that our members will all help out and buy a ticket...or two...or 5....or 10! Toys for the Children (TftC) was founded in 1997 and is committed to providing toys, school supplies, household goods, and personal items to the children and families in the Honduras, Costa Rica, Mexico, and elsewhere. We have delivered gifts to over 9,000 children since 1997.
As divers, we are privileged enough to visit some of the most beautiful places on earth - places where the local population typically lives well below the "American" version of the poverty line. Toys for the Children has one goal in mind: to give something back to these communities.
Each year, TftC collects toys and other goods and volunteers personally distribute these items to the children and families in the areas we target. Our organization is supported entirely by volunteer efforts, including everything from warehousing the goods we collect to shipping the items to the destination - and we are proud to note that each year provides us with an opportunity to deliver more items to more children in need.
