Hey everyone the first day has gone great! We've seen so many of our members and old friends! Pup is here and some amazing volunteers who have ensured we can afford to be at the show because of their generous donation of time and talent! And a few really lucky ones got to help with the Fish and Famous benefit and charity auction getting to meet the truly great icons in the scuba world! WOW!!!

We still need volunteer for Sat and Sun... :thankyou: in advance for all your help both for the show and at the booth! :respect:

Hi Everyone!   Well, I landed back in Florida, I'm caught up on my sleep, the laundry is done, the cat has received the uber amount of attention that he requires... so now it's time to talk to YOU!

Chuck, Jeff, Jenny, Jerry, Jose, and Lisa: You pulled off a major victory for Kamala! Thank YOU so much!  :thankyou:  :thankyou:

Jose and Chuck: It was so much fun to work with you (and Kamala too!) setting up and running the Silent Auction. What starts as chaos comes together and ends up being a lot of fun for everyone. We received a very kind email from Marilyn.... she always notices our major contribution to her event.

Jeff and Jerry and Chuck and Jose and Jenny and Lisa.... (hmmn, that's everybody) stood for hours and were so persuasive telling the SD.com story at the booth. Wow, that's all I can say.

Lisa also took time to help me give the BTS folks a hand. We made a bunch of trips up and down the exhibit aisles doing this 'n that, and we even went to some presentations and assisted there. I think that Lisa enjoyed the talks and saw a different side of BTS. I want all of you to include attending presentations in your future BTS visits as I sincerely believe that "all work and no play" is not a good management strategy. I know you often hear me mumble about that, but I believe I am onto something.

HAPPY HOUR was, well, happy!  :flirt: So very much fun. Thank you, Kamala, for the Appetizers. Those onion rings were to die for! And it was fun to have some extra folks rounding things out, including the PSU guys (natch), Ann Marie from BTS staff, DaveL and Dr Jay.

The Film Fest was astounding. Jerry took in the big win in the 50/50 drawing in support of the BTS Scholarships Fund and, nice guy that he is, gave a bunch of it back to BTS. Then Kamala jumped in and donated the remainder on behalf of SingleDivers.com! So it was a fun event laced with generosity by our people!

Last of all, I have to go back to the beginning:  Jose and Jenny housed and then dragged to BTS the supplies she needed for her booth. And Jerry supplied the needed tables. As if that wasn't enough, they threw setup and tear down into the mix.

You can see that we have a terrific bunch here, and why you are all so special. It is a privilege to know each of you! My thanks to you for making my little corner of BTS activity a pleasure!  xxoooo   sylvia

I wasn't there (wish I could have been) but I would like to thank all those that were for all they did.

These kinds of people are what makes SingleDivers different than any other group I know and why I keep coming back.  We can't always do things on a schedule we like but the staff does what they do since the people appreciate it and respond like this.  I wish the rest of the world worked this way, we would be all much better off.

Thank you all  :thankyou:

Thanks for the shout-out, Sylvia, even though I couldn't make it,  I was with you in spirit.

Your description of what was accomplished and the fun you all had made me wish more than ever I could've been there this past weekend.

I couldn't agree more with Comdr. Clownfish about the membership of SingleDivers!!! Generous by nature, helpful and fun-loving!!!

I will try very hard to be at BTS next time!!!   :thankyou:   :cheerleader:

I need to get a little philosophical this morning.  I firmly believe that you reap what you sew.  and you get back more than you put in.  SingleDivers.com is the epitome  of that philosophy.  I've been a member of SD since 2007 or 2008 when I had to move to North Carolina when my Job moved.  My wife stayed in Pennsylvania so on weekends when I didn't go back I was looking for people do dive with. In the fall of 2008 my wife was killed so needless to say my world imploded.  long story short SingleDivers.com was one of the major contributors to being able to put my life back together.  The people I've met have been so great that every time I get a chance to give a little back I consider it interest on the debt.

I really enjoy working the show. All the people I've met over the years I've been diving.  chief among them Bobby Purifoy and the gang at Olympus diving in Morehead NC, and Joe and Heidi Porter at Wreck Diving magazine.  But there are many many more that I don't get to see but once a year.

I can talk to a hundred people a day and try to explain to them why WW has a great thing going here. Several times over the weekend someone would walk up and when I start to tell them about SD their eyes would light up and they'd say WOW this is exactly what I've been looking for!!  for me it doesn't get any better than that.  I hope to see each and everyone of them on a trip.  Another reason I spend as much time in the booth as I do is that gives Kamala time to network with all the dive operators and find us all kinds of great places to dive!

Last year I worked for BTS almost all day on Friday.  This year I had to work my real job on Friday but when Lisa and I arrived Some of the BTS officials asked where I was.  I guess I made an impression.  the hours we provide to BTS as volunteers not only gets SingleDivers a great booth but it really helps BTS put on a world class show.

BTS is so much more than just the exhibiter hall.  the formal awards banquet, the seminars, the Saturday night film festival, all these any many more contribute to a truly world class event.

I hope each and everyone one of you can make it one day.

Thanks to all the folks who helped out and especially Sylvia who holds the whole crew together and a super shout out to my beautiful girl Lisa who more than puts up with me.  .

See you all soon!!

Each wreck has a tale to tell about its life and its demise.

If you are observant while diving in dark places listen to the account each has to tell, You cannot come away unaffected.
