Just wondering what people on this trip are planning to do? Even if the trip is not officially cancelled, what are the expected diving conditions/vis from the storm?

The model plots almost all have it going north of Cuba so I think the Caymans are safe.  The Weather Channel 10 day forecast for the Caymans is attached.  It will be choppy Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.  I'm not an Oceanographer, nor did I stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night, but I would think that the mountains of Cuba will shield the Caymans from the worst of Irma.  There could be some modest vis drop due to the rain and wind expected early in the week and maybe some unexpected currents coming from between PR and Cuba. That should dissipate.   Unless iIrma changes course dramatically, I would not expect this trip to be cancelled nor Irma to impact the trip significantly other than some rain and wind.

I would be more concerned about getting there since you are probably not transiting through Florida or PR this weekend!!!

We have some rain now but light and some wind. There is no diving today and possibly tomorrow. We can dive the south side of the island or any part that is protected. The weather will be very nice otherwise in the high 70's and low 80's. (It was in the low 90's this past week so some say its a pleasant change.)

We expect MUCH better conditions in Cayman Brac than Grand Cayman for less money so we opted to stay in Brac vs going to Grand. Lori aka Salish Seagal will be joining us in Cayman Brac and we had hoped TC O'Gorman would as well but it did not work out for him after all. Maybe next time!

Several members from the CBrac trip THIS week are staying either for the double dip or because of flight cancellations into Miami! So we will have a nice mini group this week! Looking forward to it...the diving has been really great this past week!
