The first thing we need to know is if the hotel WANTS us to come help, which must also take into consideration if they have the building supplies to get the work started. If Castle Comfort doesn't have any remaining hotel rooms or useable dive gear, would anyone else on the island? They need tourism to help their economy!

 

If we can't get this work trip confirmed on the calendar by the end of 2017, then it will be time to change plans for the May 2018 dates.

​This subject has been on the back burner for a while. I looked into it and found a recent NY Times article, and an online news outlet.

 

​It appears reconstruction, and electrical reconnection is slow in coming. While the Ft Young has 41 rooms available, they continue to work on the rest. The hotel is offering a 5 night 'voluntourism package' for $879. Buddy Dive @ Ft Young doesn't anticipate opening until 2019. Many of the other resorts on the island also don't anticipate opening until sometime in 2019. Flights are available into DCA by a handful of regional connecting airlines.

Correct Bill. We have to wait until next year. I will be doubling down on fundraising when I get back from the Philippines!
