Hi all -

 

    Here's confirmation that I've paid my Nitrox bill, the last thing due before the trip, correct? Looking forward to meeting everyone in under three weeks!

I'm flying in a day in advance to chill in Fort Lauderdale for a day before heading to Jupiter. A few things/notes/questions:
 
1. Anyone interested in joining me for a two-tank boat dive the morning of the 17th? I reserved the morning two-tank boat dive the 17th with Sea Experience (www.seaxp.com, shop located behind Bahia Mar on the intracoastal). It's an 8:30 report to the shop, 9a go on the boat at the adjacent marina, between Bahia Mar and what used to be Bahia Cabana. The scheduled trip for that day is to Hog Heaven/Jungle Gym (weather permitting of course). I did most of my advanced training (AOW, Rescue Diver, Nitrox, started Divemaster but due to family illnesses didn't complete it within the required year) at SeaXP over a decade ago, and several of the people there, including owner Bill Cole and captain/PADI course director Mateo Torres, have become friends.
 
   Sea XP has a great boat and great staff. Here's a video of Hog Heaven that I found from May this year, and whoever shot it went out with Sea XP (you can see the boat at the beginning and end of the video): 
 
2. Anyone around in Fort Lauderdale the evening of the 16th for dinner or libations? If you'd be interested in doing something in FLL the evening of the 16th, let me know!
 
3. Anyone driving from the FLL vicinity to Jupiter the afternoon of the 17th able to give me a ride? I'm trying to figure out my transportation for the trip, considering whether it's worthwhile to rent a car or just find a Lyft or other transportation method. But if anyone would be driving up to Jupiter from FLL in the early/mid-afternoon (dive boat from the morning would be back at the marina dock between noon and 1p, so leaving from there) and willing to let me hitch along, I'll pay for gas and a lunch on the way!
 
4. Does the group get together for meals or other activities after diving, or is it everyone heading off on their own? Whichever it is, I'm looking forward to some absolutely fantastic dives! Since this is my first SingleDivers trip, I'm not sure what to expect. Just trying to get some idea (especially whether I need to pack anything more formal than t-shirts!).

I'm flying into FLL on the 17th and have a rental car so could give you a ride if you are done with the dives by then.  My flight gets in at 1:07pm so likely get the luggage and car by around 2 pm.

 

The group generally does get together for evening meals and there are several places to eat in the hotel area and a bunch more in easy driving distance.

Thanks, Joseph, for the speedy response! Sounds as if your flight would be timed perfectly for when I'd be ready to go after my morning diving. If no one else who's driving to Jupiter decides to join for the morning dives, if you wouldn't mind having me ride shotgun in your rental, that would be great (and I'll chip in to help with your expenses).

 

My phone # is  (ask admin), so if you want to give me a call sometime between now and the 17th to give me details and arrange a meeting place, that would be great.

You're arriving pretty late, Caroline. Your best bet might be a one-way, one-day rental from FLL to Jupiter. I did some price checking (since I may need a one-way, one-day rental coming back from Jupiter to FLL for the 23rd to the 24th), and it looks as if pricing would be around $35 for a compact car.
