After reading the info on this trip, specifically the correspondence with the capt about diving Cat Island and Conception Island, I wanted to add my thoughts.  I started my diving in the Bahamas, specifically Cat Island.  The island is in the shape of a backwards L.  The long side runs somewhat North to South, with the shorter leg East to West.  I did all of my diving on the Southern side of the island.  This was mainly in the 80's and 90's.  Running West to East along that side, there is Hawks Nest, Devils Point, Cutlass, Winding Bay, and Columbus Point.  Most of my dives were from Hawks Nest, where the wall started in 80-90 foot of water.  As you get East of Devils point, the wall starts closer to the 60 foot area.  There are also a lot of patch reefs inside the wall between Devils Point and Winding Bay.  Devils Point was a frequent spot for seeing a hammerhead, but that was in the Feb March time frame.  In those days, the area between Devils Point and Winding Bay was covered with Elk Horn Coral.  Very beautiful diving.  As you work your way East to Winding Bay and Columbus point, you were getting into some potentially interesting diving areas.  Columbus point is now well known for diving with Oceanic White tips.  I did a lot of fishing there, having caught dolphin, tuna, wahoo, marlin, and sail fish.  Most fishing trips included Oceanic White tip sightings, and many fish were lost to big sharks before they were landed.  Another interesting option is a place called Tarter Banks.  It is about 5 miles South of Devils Point.  I do not recall the exact size of it, but I will estimate it to be about 1/4 to 1/2 mile square.  The reefs on top came to within 45-50 feet of the surface, while the edge of the banks was around 90-100 feet before it dropped off to a few hundred feet.  I did one dive there, and remember seeing a couple of very large sharks far enough away that they were basically just shadows.  I suspected they were tigers.  I never did get to Conception, but heard wonderful things about the diving there.

Also, in which hotel do you usually stay?  I will arrive on September 18.

I'm going to arrive in Nassau a day early (September 18th), do I need to find my own room or will there be others that need rooms?

There will most likely be others as well. We'll help with rooming for anyone wanting to do d/o vs a single room. Let us know!

I am excited and pleased to be onboard.

Anyone focusing on photography? I know we all take pictures. I'm interested if you are one of those serious photographer that scouts for subjects to shoot vs. Oh look, let me get a shot of that type diver..

Is anyone interested on Blue Light Photography? Some may call it UV or if allowed and the boat is willing, blackwater photography ( I have not experienced a liveaboard that will do blackwater )?

I ask because if you are interested in performing Bluelight photography (best at night), you will need some special equipment to support that type of photography, ie. a barrier for the lens, and eyes and of course, Blue Lights.

I have my personal lights, enough to support perhaps 2 maybe 4 people but not the barrier specific to your camera.

If you are interested in learning more on this technique and would like to perform some bluelight photography, I will need to know your camera type (ie. Camera Body) and housing type (ie. manufacturer) so I may reach out to a manufacturer to see if barriers may be available for your make and model. Barriers are not that expensive.

I'll see you on the boat.

I went ahead and booked a room at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites for the 18th. It looks like it is about a 1 mile from where the boat dock is.
