We need your help in deciding what to feature and/or write about each month. Please look at the list below and let us know the features and/or types of articles you would like to see. Some ideas have been regular features each month and some are ideas we've only tried once or twice. We've even add a few we've never tried just to test the waters. So please let us know what you'd like to see...and feel free to suggest your own ideas.

 

For every person who helps to contribute to this post we will enter you into a drawing for a $75 gift certificate that can be used for travel and/or merchandise.

Game/puzzle (word seek is easy, crossword puzzle also fun - keep a diving theme)

Website use advice (how to find and sign up for a trip, where to find various topics/forums, what is a Trip Angel? etc.)

WOW thank you! The newsletters takes a LOT of work to put together and I often wonder if it is worth it and/or do people appreciate it. I'm glad to hear they do!

 

So more articles or less or a mix of some months more features and other months less???

Thanks Scott! Great ideas! I never thought of games before but I'm not sure I am clever enough to create them myself. LOL!  You must of LOVED last month's newsletter HERE as it was loaded with how to use the new trip booking system.

 

But yes a monthly tip on how to use the site or forums better is a great idea! They all are actually !

i wouldn't mind more information on gear, using, caring, etc., and info / reviews on the new gear that it out or coming out in the future.  all of the content is very informative, and the variety of information is always helpful !

Since we are NOT a dive shop I have shied away from a lot of gear info BUT...we can certainly approach gear from a travel perspective as well as functional i.e. jacket style bc vs back plate and wing concept. These would be GREAT member contribution articles. Thanks for the good insight and ideas.

I enjoy the newsletters, but sometimes it is a week or two (or three) before I get a breather to read them. But when I do--I read the whole thing.  I like the travel destinations--but not just the upcoming trip, but WHY I should consider going there. What is the destination known for?    I enjoy travel tips--especially ways to save on luggage weight.  Featured member is nice--so many people I haven't met.  Fish ID / Invertebrate ID could be fun to for common yet hard to identify species (For those of us with our Life Fish Lists).  Maybe in the meantime--a like to REEF.org. They have FISH ID webinars often that are free.

Travel information that is specific to dive travel - for example, one of the best tips that I continue to use on a
each of my liveaboard dive trips is to take parachute cord! On the last day everyone is trying to dry their gear all over the boat and there is always a shortage of hangers. So, the parachute cord can be use to tie my gear to the sunny sections of the boat with no worries that anything will be blown overboard. The cord is easy to cut into various lengths and all pieces can be stored in a plastic zip bag. Even if you need to learn a few knots, there’s always someone on the boat that can teach you.

This dive club is large and diverse, so there could be a lot of information to share.

No problem to have the games, bit I’d skip that part.

It would be helpful if the newsletter could announce that the trips open for booking 10-12 months in advance, then we have plenty of time to pay for the trip, plus plenty of time to watch for lower airfares to each location.

I agree with the last comment - I get tons of emails every day and would have appreciated a head's up when a trip opens up for signing up - I missed the early deadlines with discounts and have made plans for other trips.  So many of the trips this year seemed to be delayed sign-ups.

Ocean Girl I like a  lot of your suggestions too!  Be looking for as much diverse content as we can manage!
