Okay...
At the bottom of many posts it says Post "edited by.........". My question is do all members have this ability, or only specific members (for admin reasons)? Is this something each person types in themselves?
Just curious.
Thanks.

All members can edit their own posts for about 1 hour (I think) after posting. If you submit a post & the realize that you want to make changes- i.e. rewrite it, correct your spelling; once you go back into the post & resubmit, the "edited by(your name)" appears. Only moderators & admins can go into all posts to edit them & we will always let you know if we've made a change to anything other than spelling or taking that annoying "edited by" line out. You do not have the ability to modify your posts without that being inserted in it.

Marvel,
Thanks, I was just wondering how they did it, since I tend to mess mine up from time to time, (okay a lot) it is nice to know I can correct it if necessary (within the limited time frame of course).

As long as you see an "edit" button at the top right, you can go back into it. If the time is passed & you really want to make a change to what you've said- retract some words spoken in haste, perhaps- PM a mod or admin.

Just FYI...
I made a big edit to a post for the Houston area Happy Hour (available for viewing and reply by any member) today. I changed not only the content of the original message, but the title and subtitle. The message had originally been posted and pinned over a week ago. So, that would lead me to believe you can edit your own post anytime (and it automatically adds that little "edited by" statement at the bottom. One advantage to that is that I can update the thread without having to post an entirely new one and mucking up the events site with multiple threads about the Houston Happy Hour (and confusing members).

Marvel and Sassy,
Thanks, I actually tried it on my Happy Hour post and added the attendees on the first post. It is good to know that I can do that. I have never paid attention to the edit button before tonight, then again, I never looked for it.
Appreciate your assistance.

Gee, Marvel, I've got that button, too. After doing more research, I discovered that button is only there when my mouth is closed. [Some people only close their mouths to change feet!]
