I am interested in participating in the NC Wreck Shark Diving Trip scheduled on the prelim calendar for July 2005.

Anyone planning on attending so far?

Last years trip was a blast.
OK, lets make a deal. If you stop telling me how to dive, I'll stop going down to the bus station at 2am to slap d***s out of your mouth.

I plan to look at going to NC this year, but will diving Whitefish Point in Lake Superior that weekend. I hope that you all have a blast.

I might be interested if I can go but need to know pricing info.

Should have pricing this week...unfortunately my boat capt has just lost his mother and has been having a number of difficulties that have delayed him getting his contracts out for the year. There will also be a small fuel surcharge this year that he did not levy last year although others did. It will be $5 per day...not much BUT the Graveyard of the Atlantic is already the highest priced dive destination in the Carribean due to its extremely short season (May to Oct)...small number of operators (3 primaries and 2-3 independents) and the seasonal nature of the small community the diving is located in.

However.....as I travel the world...NC diving is STILL my favorite dive destination bar none! So I hope to see you ALL there at least once to enjoy this phenominal 'once in a lifetime' opportunity to dive on history!

And unlike the Great Lakes and Northern Fresh Water Wrecks...mother nature is slowly and in some cases rapidly destroying these hallmarks of time. Many do not realize how close German U-Boats were off our shores...U-boat victims as close as 10 miles offshore prove their proximity far closer than we would have liked. And there are ONLY 4 German U-boats in diveable waters...one in 95 ft with ripping currents off Nagshead, NC...one newly discovered but not readily dove yet...one in 115 ft of calm, blue, warm NC waters (the one we dive on) and one about 200 ft deep off the NY/NJ coast. The U-352 is still intact however she is breaking down and may no longer resemble the magnificient vessel that she is....don't wait too long to experience this slice of history!

Oh yes...and the marine life...(rated #1 in North America by ScubaDiving/Rodales for about 6 years in a row) ESPECIALLY the LARGE marine life is awesome! Come play with cudas 5-6+ ft long....LOTS OF THEM! And game fish SCHOOLS that will leave you in AWE...and of course the SHARKS!!!! They are docile to divers yet LOOK alarming with all those teeth...yes this is a SHARK experience you'll NEVER forget and will leave you desiring more! These animals are not fed nor interfered with by our divers yet they have accepted divers over the years as equals so that we can enjoy an experience with them rarely experienced in other shark encounters....don't miss it....-ww

I won't be going, but only because I am unemployed. If I was working, I would go about three times this year, and I'd ask if I could leave a tank there over the summer so I didn't have to lug it back and forth. It was reallly amazing!

Hello Kamala and All,

I found a link to this site via ScubaBoard.com, came across the post on your upcoming North Carolina trip and decided to respond. My thoughts & feelings regarding the diving off Morehead City, NC are similar to Kamala's. I too have traveled extensively and am truly impressed with the underwater world off NC.

If you are interested, you can view imagery that supports a recent Scuba Diving Magazine article I completed on Morehead City, North Carolina at:
http://www.seascapes...rolina2004.html
(the various galleries are towards the bottom of the page)

I highly recommend Morehead City as one of the best shark action destinations in the world. And, Olympus Dive Center is a an excellent operation.

Best wishes,

Scott

Scott you should get some good experience on the St. Maarten, Saba, St Kitts trip. By the time July 4th comes around you can lead the NC trip. :lmao:
