AIRFARE TIPS:

 

We will use this topic to help you more in-depth with your flight searches and flight arrangements.  PLEASE note the following caveats about HOW TO GET TO CUBA posted below as you contemplate this trip AND we are finalizing the last details for everyone to open in our booking system.

 

HOW TO GET TO CUBA AS OF:

 

As of 3/28/22:

 

Very few flights have opened back up to Cuba ...VERY FEW and most are via Havana. They normally service 3 airports on the island and offer a number of flights to all those airports...BUT NOW IS NOT NORMAL.

 

I know many of you are worried about flights BUT ITS WELL OVER A YEAR AWAY....and unlike the US Cuba did not pay its airline companies to fly during the pandemic like our country did...SO PLEASE DO NOT WORRY ABOUT FLIGHTS TODAY when deciding on this trip.

 

When flights are plentiful again...and depending on what fuel does...the cost in 2019 when we went last was about $350 round trip from MIA. Using our trip dates for this year and staying 4-5 extra nites or even 3-4 extra nights TODAY the rates are $495 to $550 ROUND TRIP.  That's pretty decent given so few flight options and yet surprisingly they have about 6 flights a day going from MIA so lots of options to connect from another city.

 

AND there are 6 flight options a day including:

 

• 6:50 am
• 9:40am
• 10:30 am
• 3:51 pm
• 501 pm
• 7:00 pm

 

These are all on AA.com but other options will open up as Cuba opens up from Covid etc. I know  that TPA Tampa also has flights but sadly a number of fisherman have made that port of entry DIFFICULT for those following the rules and we are likely to have customs issues via TPA if we traveled to Cuba NOW to/from TPA. Hopefully in a year it will change opening up this add'l airport.

 

We will be monitoring ways to get to Cuba as they open up but being well over a year away...it is safe to say that the price will probably end up between $400-500 round trip assuming we do not continue to have massive fuel increases.   Kamala

When will we know about the land portion and what flight arrangement we can make?  Can we arrive at an airport other than Havana and have transportation provided to the dock? What if we need to arrive 1 day early-- is there a hotel option?

I'm trying to wrap it up this week. The post and still lingering pandemic issues, legal matters, etc have made it very difficult to lock in. Basically we can do 2 days before and that seems to be the max without costing a lot of money. So now the plan is to offer the easier legal option that is more reasonably priced and then offer the more complicated and expensive option for the few that may still want to go that route for the others.   Be looking for this info this week.  I'm sorry the holidays really got in the way of trying to get sufficient info to go beyond what everyone else does when they dive there. Sadly I now see why it has to be that way with the all the lingering issues complicating an already complicated matter.

Hi glad to see this post from yesterday which somehow I did not get the normally generated email about. Cuz I've been thinking its time to start thinking about flight to Miami and Cuba and getting some more recent info. I don't see all the discussion earlier about land vs diving priorities?? Anyway glad to hear plans are happening. Since I'll be on the Raja trip and staying on in Bali I need to make arrangements before I leave for Bali in 5 weeks, I only have 12 days at home between trips!
