Why Dive St. Eustatia?

In he middle of the azure Caribbean Sea lies the Dutch Caribbean island of Sint Eustatius, a unique and unspoiled paradise where pristine nature, culture and diversity are inextricably linked. On land and in surrounding crystal waters, new fascination awaits you every day: dive or hike your way into the island’s rich history, or daydream on a black sand beach - anything is possible - and because this intimate island has no mass tourism, you can enjoy it all to the fullest, undisturbed. Diving sites are among the best in the Caribbean. St. Eustatia offers pristine, diverse underwater environments with healthy coral reefs, numerous historical shipwrecks dating back centuries, unique lava formations, and a lack of crowds, making it a great choice for divers of all levels seeking a rich and unspoiled diving experience in the Caribbean. The waters around St. Eustatius are some of the most pristine in the Caribbean. Diving is diverse with several unique habitats including walls, historical wrecks, patch reefs, macro dive sites, lava flows, boulder slides, and rock outcroppings. There are shallow reefs, deep reefs, and spectacular sea life to be admired either close to shore or deeper in the ocean. Sint Eustatius has plenty of archeological dive sites with shipwrecks too.The St Eustatius National Marine Park was created in 1996 and extends around the entire island from the high water line to 30m depth contour. The park covers an area of 27.5km2 and protects a variety of habitats, including pristine coral reefs (drop off walls, volcanic ‘fingers’ and ‘bombs’, spur and groove systems), 18th century shipwrecks and modern-day artificial reefs to promote fishing and dive tourism (including a 100m cable-laying ship).Within the Park are two actively- managed Reserves in which no fishing or anchoring is permitted to conserve marine biodiversity, protect fish stocks and promote sustainable tourism. In addition to regular mooring maintenance, patrols and research, the National Marine Park works closely with local dive centres to ensure that diving practices minimise impact on the reef.

Untouched marine life:

The protected marine park around the island boasts vibrant coral reefs teeming with fish, turtles, rays, and other marine creatures.

Historical shipwrecks:

Explore numerous well-preserved shipwrecks from the 17th and 18th centuries, including the large "Charles Brown" wreck.

Volcanic landscapes:

Dive through unique lava formations and underwater canyons created by the island's volcanic history

Diverse dive sites:

From shallow reefs to deep walls, there are options for divers of all skill levels

Uncrowded conditions:

Unlike many Caribbean destinations, St. Eustatius is less crowded, allowing for a more peaceful diving experience.

Archaeological interest:

Discover "blue beads" at certain sites, remnants of a historical practice where slaves were given these beads as payment.

Clear visibility:

The waters around St. Eustatius generally offer excellent visibility
