Hey everyone,

I’m Chase — new to the forum! I’m a remote worker and long-term traveler planning to get scuba certified soon and integrate diving into my upcoming travels. I’ll be starting in O‘ahu in December, then spending time in North Carolina, Tenerife, Bali, Thailand, and Costa Rica over the next year.

I’m excited to connect with divers and possibly join some group trips once I’m certified.

— Chase

:hiya:  Kathy. Appreciate the warm welcome from up the road in Golden! I’m based in Denver for now but gearing up to head out for a stretch of travel starting in December.

Glad to hear Kamala and the team run solid trips. I’ll definitely keep an eye out once I’ve got my fins officially wet. Hoping to knock out my OW soon and start logging dives in a few of the spots you all visit. Thanks again for the encouragement. Feels good to find a community that actually gets the bug!

Hi Chase, I'm new to the site, too! We can be newbie buddies :). You have quite the list of places you'll be going next year, wow! What do you do for work? And are there any openings? :D

Hey DiveBabe — love that idea, newbie buddies it is.

I’m not working right now — just volunteering for a startup focused on cell therapy research — so I’m in a transition phase, trying to stabilize my health and get back into something purpose-driven (remote if possible).

And yeah, that list of destinations is ambitious, but half the fun’s in figuring out which ones actually make sense once I get certified and see how I hold up physically. If you’re planning any beginner-friendly trips or just want to compare notes as we go, I’d love that.

Lets see how your Open Water goes in Oahu next month, please report back! What a gorgeous place to get trained up. Mine was here in MT and it was snowing! Haha
When are you going to NC and were you planning to dive there? Ive read about some wrecks off the coast and sometimes sand tiger sharks breeding mid to late summer. Sometimes Manta rays too.

Haha, snow diving sounds like a real initiation! Yeah, I’ll definitely share how O‘ahu goes — hopefully the warm water makes up for all the logistics getting there.

I’m aiming to be in North Carolina in January, but I probably won’t dive there. From what I’ve gathered, the wreck diving and sand tiger sightings are more of a summer thing, and January seas are cold and unpredictable. Still, it’s on my list to come back for when the season’s right.
