We are going to try something new in the Central Florida area. At last Friday's Happy Hour we decided we would have a better turnout if we involved diving :welcome: DUH!

So save the weekend of April 29th -May 1st. We talked about Rainbow River and Ginnie Springs. Anyone who has suggestions I'm open, as I have never been diving in the springs. We need to find a great campsite close to great diving. Also would be good if there was a hotel nearby for the non-campers.

We will update the first post as we finalize the details. Feel free to express your preferences. Post in thread or PM me.

Of course all Floridians as well as any visitors are welcome.

Sounds like a great idea! Ginnie does have camping- here's a link to their website: Ginnie Springs

hey jill, great idea...I'd definitely be up for something like that.
I've done some spring diving and I guess it's ok but the camping part
interests me as much as the diving. I'll watch the thread closer in mid april !

Brrrrr... I say..... Brrrr..... but OK!!! I'll jump in for a spring dive.... I haven't done Ginnie or Rainbow, but I hear Rainbow is great...

I dont camp, so I just might come up for a day and dive and visit with everyone... the closest I get to camping are the huts we are going to stay in, in Fiji....

Not sure if I could make it. I'll have my son that weekend. Although he loves camping, he's only eight. I'd have to figure out something to keep him busy or just not go diving.

I really need some help from those of you who have camped at the springs and been diving to pick the best spot. Ginnie's $16 a night per person instead of per site seems high to me. Any thoughts?

ginnie is the most expensive place to camp in the state but they also have the most to offer and the freedom to what you please as well.

Though I have not been camping there, the Best Western http://book.bestwest...pertyCode=10281 is the nicest hotel near Ginnie, but it is ~20 minutes away. The Alachua hotels were not up to my quality shall we say.

Have not had the chance to dive Rainbow. Ginnie is $27/day per diver and they charge an entry fee for the kids.

The kids get out of school May 18th, so we will probably make a trip down between then and Aug 4 when they return. Jeff, we may coordinate so we can take turns diving/watching the kids. Ours are 8, almost 10, & 11.

Can't make it after all. We'll be doing one day dive trips until we do the keys or something nice like that. Saving money for the nicer dive trips isn't easy. Especially when diving so often in FL! ;) Doing Ft. Pierce next weekend!
