Note: This is an official SD event! See you there!

It is time to get serious about our first Central Florida camping and diving event. The weekend is sure to be filled with great fun and some great diving. :taz:

We are getting all the SD'ers there for one great weekend of fun. You don't want to miss this first Central Florida Diving event do you? You know how much fun they have in Athens, well we can do the same. :angel2:

You will be paying for your own camping fee, and bringing your own food. There will be people willing to share their grills. We will have some dive related giveaways. Steve Straatsma from Dive Rite will be in Ginnie on Saturday demostrating some gear.

You will be paying for diving or entrance into the park:

Camping fees are $16 per Adult per night. Check in beginnings 8:00 am and checkout is at 8:00 pm. So for one person for Sat night it is $16 or Friday and Saturday night it is $32.

Diving is $27 a day.

Daily entrance without diving is $10.

There is a cafe/grill with great food and prices on property as well as a dive shop.

Here is the official website Ginnie Springs

Or for those who want to come, but aren't campers fun2dive recommends Best Western

If you have space available in your tent or need space, please post in the thread.

Lets do this :teeth: :angel2:  :twist:

We already voted the 29-1 as the best weekend for us. Can't wait!! Can we bring a guest, who hopefully will become a SD.com member (Deborah)?

well, it might be a little too early, but we are packed and ready to go !!!!

as far as the dive shop jill, it is a full service dive shop that is two stories and it is also a camp store , they sell a little bit of everything you would need for camping food, ice, drinks and other supplies as well.

The shop does NOT have Nitrox (not necessary if you're open water, but if you're cave/cavern certified, that's a different matter!)

However, Cave Excursions East, down at the "blinking light" DOES have Nitrox available at per-cubic-foot prices (no flat fee fills for topoffs!)

I'll talk to fun2dive and see if we can work this one out.

Note that its entirely possible that flooding will intrude - this IS the rainy season, and right now the river is rising and there's little left open down there. Peacock is closed to all diving, Little River is underwater, etc.

Let's hope that the WX cooperates - the park at Ginnie DOES flood.

Was just there this last weekend...The Sante Fe came up about 1-2 feet but is expected to drop by next weekend (April 2-3).

Gee , by that time I should have my new doubles put together so ...

I'm Ready!!!

Jean

P.S. Cave excursions East DOES have nitrox...They open at 9 AM both on Saturday AND Sunday. Its about 10 minutes from Ginnie ...

It appears that neither of these days work for myself and Fun2dive - move it two weeks or so into May, so the kids are off, and we can have a leisurely trip down and back without really only getting one day of diving out of it.

A weekend where we got at least two full days at Ginnie works for me - but the "hurry up" thing down and back we've done before, and after talking it over we've decided not to do it again.

So this is a vote for any weekend after the 18th - make it the 20th and we'll be there. Note that the 27th - 29th is the CDS workshop, so if you put it on THAT weekend we have multiple reasons to be there - and so will anyone else on the site who is a cavediver.

I'll be purchasing a larger tent this month not only for the ginnie springs
event but for some future keys camping, if anyone needs to borrow a tent my
old tent is comfortable for one or for two people that really like each other !
It's a eureka dome tent and very dry and cool, just let me know.

Kevin,

If you have the room please bring the extra tent along. Also I'm thinking of putting you in charge of picking out which spot since you are going early. We will talk at Ocean Fest.

Jill, are you doing any shore diving saturday oceanfest weekend,
I was thinking of doing one day over there, maybe a short time at
the displays but most of the day on either hibiscus or datura shore
diving, gonna bring four tanks...I'll probably try hibiscus first
then datura if there is no parking on hibiscus. oh well, i'll see ya up at
ginnie for sure !
