In case you missed it, I've signed up for the Bonaire trip.. :welcome: Trip
and was hoping that some of you might have ideas/suggestions for passing time between dives or stuff worth (or not worth) doing from experience. Where to dine. That kinda stuff.
Thanks.

There are plenty of donkeys that would like to meet you as well.

That's not going to be an issue. You'll have unlimited shore diving, so you'll be spending more time in the water than you expect. You'll also be there with lots of fun Single Divers and you'll have trucks to get around the island.

Hmm. Other than diving there is not much else to do. As for Kralendijk it is really tiny..you could walk through it in about ten minutes. As posted before donkey watchin will be about the only other activity!

:lmao: I came across a link in 'Bonaire..Jun vs Nov' I think, that listed alot of info in it and altough I was hoping for a larger cousin to the donkeys to be there, I guess I'll just keep busy roundin' up the seahorses :diver:

Any views for dining...Island cuisine VS Resort dining?

Mango's just down from Dive Buddy's is a great place for bkfst...only $8 and its buffet style.

You def have to go to the Casablanca and order the grill teller for two. Only $35 and it will give enuf food for that night and your next 4 lunches.

There are a couple of restuarants on the main drag that is good.....and there is a grocery store (Cultimart) where you can pick up food too.

Richard's is suppose to be a nice...but expensive rest. I didnt eat there ....just rumor.

Talk to the activity center people and find out about visiting GIBI for a great experiience.

Recent info from my trip in Nov:

Gibi's Terrace closed. Since then, he's running it at his house. I lucked out and got to enjoy a couple of the first feasts at Gibi's home. It's a local flavor, and the food and company were great! In Nov, it was just Tuesdays (check with http://www.bonairetalk.com for the current poop).
http://www.bonairedi...ants/gibis.html

Gotta try BobbiJans as well (barbecue). There's enough restaraunts there that you don't need to eat resort food at resort price$. I ate out EVERY night except for the first one. Richard's was good, as was Cappricio's (sp?). I *loved* the Swiss Chalet 'cos I can't spell 'd-i-e-t'. I'll second the motion on Casablanca. It's a paradise for carnivores... the mixed grill filled three of us! I never had a bad *meal* on Bonaire, although the service at 'It Rains Fishes' was a little surly.

By now, all of the donkeys should have been relocated to the donkey reserve south of the airport. They were around 80 to 90% moved to the 'reservation' by November, so I'd guess there's no more wild donkeys roaming the island. I only saw one or two roaming free in Nov. The flamingos are still out in force ;-)

Here's all you need to know about Bonaire:

1) unlimited, and I mean UNLIMITED shore diving (ask Kamala about our two-hour, six-dive-site, double-tank finale);
2) Dutch girls;
3) the best night diving you could ever imagine - the water's so clear you literally will not need a light other than the moon;
4) Dutch girls;
5) A really fun group of SD.com folks;
6) Did I mention Dutch girls?
7) donkeys ... everywhere;
8) mmmmmmmmmm ... Dutch girls;

oh yeah, and
9) Bonaire chicken

and 10) Dutch girls!

Check out the Gallery to get a taste of Bonaire from last year's trip.
