Jim, Ahhhh, the good old days... I remember them well. Took the knife off the 6'2", 250 pounder who said the voices were telling him to do things and the knife was to help remind him. It does get better than that, but some stories you just can't tell in a mixed crowd.

As for diving with a health care professional;

Mark, I just read thru this thread. Narwhal's post "you know it's going to be a bad day in the ER" was great (and 99% true).Reminded me of my residency at Parkland - there was a commode stall in the surgery locker room where someone had started a "thread" on wall of the stall:"you know it's going to be a bad day when". The one "post" I still remember is " Hi, I'm Mike Wallace from '60 Minutes' ". Back to the original purpose of this thread - I think your idea of a data base is a good one. When I was still practicing I would fairly often get "curbside consults" from the people I worked with who were either interested in or new to diving and knew I dove and had a "medical question". There was really no available diving-familiar doctor for them to contact except me. As a general surgeon I did my best to answer their questions but did not feel comfortable doing anything "official" outside of my training and experience as a surgeon. I did tell them about DAN and the possibility of getting a name of a qualified diving-doctor to address their concern from DAN. If you have any "surgeon-related" questions/issues/consults I'll be glad to help. But remember I don't have an office anymore. Tom.

I warned you guys about triggerfish!
And thanks, Tom. I've added you to the database.
Sounds like hydration is more important on dive trips than we originally thought, esp with that recreational drug induced redistribution of blood flow.
Someone check chinacat and make sure he didn't break anything while ROTFing

Oh, and you would do more than another kind of HCP to fix the problem, right?
