Thank you, WW? Zen? or who ever it was, for re-establishing my premeir account level. It's been very frustrating not to e-mail, PM, view profiles, post pics, ect. :wakawaka:

Now that's something that has kept me from posting before this. I saw this site on scubaboard and decided to check it out. I found it strange that this site says it is not a dating site but in order to send private messages or look at someone's profile you have to pay to join. I found out about it when I was reading a couple of guys posts in the diving forums and wanted to see what kind of experience they had to make the kinds of comments they were. Sounds just like the dating sites that I used to visit in my single days Thank God I met my wife! :birthday: So what's up with that anyway? You don't have to pay for those things on scubaboard. If you do pay the $25/year there they give you an email address. Here you have to pay $250 to get email. Sounds a little excessive to me. Anybody else feel the same way?

Hey we love opinions here. :birthday: Personally, I think $25.00 a year is very reasonable. There are expenses that need to be met. I don't think you can compare it to a dating site; what do they charge, $25.00 a month? The profiles don't consist of the same type of information like a dating site does. There are also many people here who are married or have SOs. Although I am single, I am not looking to date. I view this sight as a place where people can meet other divers to travel with, whether they are single or not. That being said, of course, when you put that many single people together, some are bound to hook up sooner or later. :wavey:

Well, that's just it. How can I assess whether or not I can put any credance in a poster's ideas or want to dive with someone unless I can view the profile. Not to mention not being able to PM them if I want to dive with them. I jsut think that you guys should stick closer to the scubaboard model if you really want to be an inclusive, not exclusive dive site. Lots of others out there that do offer those services and I think you might just be shortchanging yourselves. Just my humble opinion. Plenty of time to join the site and pay the membership when you decide to go on a trip. It's worth it then but until then :clapping:

The $250 is not an email account charge. It is a special invite only membership level.
You are able to send email and pm's at the premier level $25 a year. I like the fact that not everyone can check out my profile or view my pic. Every trip you book with SD the $25 membership fee is refunded. I don't know of any dating site that will refund your membership fee for each and every date you go on with its members.
I am single and do not have a partner to dive with. Most of my dive buddies are married and I don't think their wives would like it if I invited my buddy to travel to Bonaire to dive with me for a week. SD allows me to travel and dive with people that are not complete strangers. This is a big bonus for me. I hate to travel alone and I really hate to dive with people I have no idea of their skill level or attitudes towards diving.
Some of us have become great friends, I spent lots of time outside the board emailing and iming my SD friends.
A few of us are starting to find that special someone.

I love the fact that we can meet dive buddies and make friends here without having that whole group of people that are trolling for a notch in the bed post dating thing going. I'm very glad not to be bombarded with that why are you still single and do you want to hook up PM's and emails.

The 25.00 a month just off sets the fees that it costs to have a site like this. Do you think that a web site like this is free?? Do you see a constant flashing banner from an advertiser up there that is annoying as all get out??? No, so we have memberships that pay the bills.

We a a diving community that happens to cater to single and buddyless divers. And by our increasing number of paying members we must be doing something right.

:angel2: You are too funny. I do not believe for one minute that you would dive with someone based on the information in their profile, you would want to get to know them first. I think you just want to see our lovely pics. :clapping: I'm going to let you in on a SD.com secret, here is the info you will see in the profile:
When you joined
How many times you posted
Where you live
Your birthday
Interests
Where you like to dive
Marital Status
Name
Gender
Age Range
Cert Level and Agency
Number of Logged Dives
E-mail Address and a PM Button

All of this info is optional, some fill it in and some don't. C'mon pay the $25.00 bucks, we want to see you too!

I just realized that you are a premier member. So you do realize that you can PM and e-mail people right?

Well said ladies! And boy am I glad the ladies are happy! :angel2:

You know the age old rule....

Whatever makes the women happy.....

makes EVERYBODY HAPPY!!!! :wavey:

A few clarifications....

1. We have a glitch in the system that does not allow us to provide an automatic premier membership for 3 days or long enough to try it out and 'see' what you are missing such as pm's, posting pictures etc. Once that glitch is fixed you'll have access to the premier features which as others have said are only $25 a year and full refunded each and everytime you take a trip with us.

2. If you are active military which you are Wild Reef Roamer, we provide you a free premier membership Click here to read all the details on our Military Special.

3. PM access is available at the premier level but not email. (It was abused and we have not been able to prevent the abuse so now email access is only available to the charter members, admins, mods, etc.) Also our charter members get an email account on the sd.com platform but as mentioned earlier it is an invitation only leadership level of membership.

Thank you for your insight. We are still young and growing and always making ongoing numerous changes as we expand! Our 'married but buddyless' divers are growing and they like you are providing us invaluable insight so that SD.com is as much fun for them as it is for our single not married divers.

Welcome aboard and hopefully you'll post your own intro either in our New to SingleDivers.com forum or in our Divers in Uniform forum.

Don't hesitate to let me know if I can answer anything for you or help you with anything on the site! Kamala

And thank you AGAIN for your service to our country! God Bless! :clapping:
