Run to the Hills
Run for your Life

I think this is a trick question. I believe the title is Run to the Hills and the group is Iron Maiden.

Walking side by side with death
The devil mocks their every step
The snow drives back the foot that’s slow
The dogs of doom are howling more...

No Quarter, Led Zeppelin (I think we're showing our age here guys.)

As the sun breaks, above the ground,
An old man stands on the hill,
As the ground warms, to the first rays of light
A birdsong shatters the still.

I think that's iron Maiden's "Flight of Icarus" and I have no idea how I know that. I think it has to do with a friend of mine in high school.

Try this as it is the best protest song ever and true Caribbean music:

Well, they tell me of a pie up in the sky
Waiting for me when I die
But between the day you're born and when you die
They never seem to hear even your cry

Chours

Well, the oppressors are trying to keep me down
Trying to drive me underground
And they think that they have got the battle won
I say forgive them Lord, they know not what they've done

Chours

And I keep on fighting for the things I want
Though I know that when you're dead you can't
But I'd rather be a free man in my grave
Than living as a puppet or a slave
"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, and totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming -- WOW! -- What a Ride!"

I believe the song title is "The Harder They Come." I know that a version of it was done by Bob Dylan in live concerts.

Speaking of protest songs, here's one from the mid-60s, although it's relevant enough that it could have been written this past week.

I'm sittin' here, just contemplatin',
I can't twist the truth, it knows no regulation,
handful of Senators don't pass legislation...

Hipshot-

Good call on the title. It was done by Jamaican Jimmy Cliff. By the way, The Harder They Come soundtrack is one of the best albums ever made. Jimmy Cliff, Toots and the Maytals, etc...

ok back to your regularly sechduled programming...

While we're still off-topic . . . :)

Matt, just in case you're not already aware, there was a documentary on Bukowski out recently called "Born Into This". I saw it late last year in San Francisco and then again recently here in Vancouver. No new revelations regarding the man himself, but some interesting observations about the post office, and from his publisher.

Now someone please guess Amber's and my snippets! :2cool:
(Sorry for the bad grammar - it's too early to type AND think. :lmao: )

I wouldn't think of passing up the opportunity to answer your snippet, annasea. That would be "Thunder Road," by "The Boss," a.k.a., Bruce Springsteen.

I'll be thoroughly amazed if anyone gets this one. In fact, I'll even give the band's name, Fever Tree.

I want to know, now that it's passed,
I want to know if it happened to fast,
I want to know just what it cost,
And I want to know just what I have lost.

I wanted to fly; I wanted to stop the sun in the sky,
I wanted to catch....

:thankyou: Rick!

As for yours - even with the band name included - I'll wait for the next one. :usflag:

Alright, this one looks like a stopper. I'll throw out a clue: J.D. Salinger.
