Alright, this one looks like a stopper.  I'll throw out a clue:  J.D. Salinger.

"Catcher in the Rye"

Although I must admit I confirmed the song title by googling the band. :welcome: I wasn't sure if it would be so obvious.

OK, here's another easy one to keep the ball rolling . . .

If I could
Baby I'd give you my world
Open up
Everything's waiting for you

(But I'm still wondering about Amber's. I know I know that one . . . Rick? Anyone? Someone?)

Finally...geez...great song...in my CD player now.

Ok...I have another one.

I was a high school loser
Never made it with a lady
Till the boys told me something I missed
Then my next door neighbour
With a daughter had a favour
So I gave her just a little kiss, like this!
The greatest resource of the ocean is not material but the boundless spring of inspiration and well-being we gain from her.

Oh, that's Richard something or the other else....can't think of his last name

I think the name of the song is "waiting for you"

If memory serves me, that's Fleetwood Mac's "Go Your Own Way."

Since you're in Canada, annasea, I thought I'd try this one for you. Although Judy Collins did a cover of this song, it's author and original performer is Canadian.

You can hear the boats go by
You can spend the night beside her
And you know that she's half crazy
But that's why you want to be there
And she feeds you tea and oranges
That come all the way from China
And just when you mean to tell her
That you have no love to give her
Then she gets you on her wavelength
And she lets the river answer
That you've always been her lover
And you want to travel with her
And you want to travel blind
And you know that she will trust you
For you've touched her perfect body with your mind.

Thanks for the 15 lines but 2 would have been enough! :D I love Leonard Cohen!

"Suzanne" - Leonard Cohen

By the way, I didn't know Judy Collins did a cover. Nina Simone did one as well and it's wonderful!

you think you're in heaven,
but you living in hell

Oh children weep no more
oh my sycamore tree, saw the freedom tree,
oh children weep no more
weep no more, children weep no more

JAH would never give
the power to a baldhead
run come crucify the dread

(Not exactly Top 40, but it's loaded with hints . . . ) :dazzler:

Synchronicity - The Police

Well, they blew up the chicken man in philly last night
Now, they blew up his house, too
Down on the boardwalk they’re gettin’ ready for a fight
Gonna see what them racket boys can do

Another one by Bruce "The Boss" Springsteen, "Atlantic City."

Along the lines of Atlantic City, I grew up by an amusement park, so this song was one to which I could definitely relate:

She took off a silver locket she said remember me by this
She put her hand in my pocket I got a keepsake and a kiss
And in the roar of dust and diesel I stood and watched her walk away
I could have caught up with her easy enough but something must have made me stay

And the big wheel keep on turning neon up above
And I’m high on the world
Come on and take a low ride with me girl...

"Tunnel of Love" - Dire Straits :wakawaka:

You know I once knew a woman who looked like you
She wanted a whole man, not just a half
She used to call me sweet daddy when I was only a child
You kind of remind me of her when you laugh

I'll apologise in advance in case any of this is wrong. The vinyl has the lyrics but mine's long since been packed away, and the CD doesn't contain the lyrics. :dltears:

"Erotic City" Prince

She's not the kind of girl
that you can just tie down.
She likes to spread her love
and turn your head around.
