Dont get me wrong SD.comers I just love to walk out to my back porch and smell those ribs, steak and chicken BBQing away :wakawaka:

(disclaimer...this is not an add for that brand)

But for me times a changin. I went out a month ago and bought a george foeman grill to cook some chicken breasts and other meats. well to my surprise I found that I was getting pretty clever with other things also. I started slicing zuccine, yellow squash, mushrooms, carrots and grilling them. all these veggies before I was frying, steaming, boiling etc. and this baby cooks them fast!. the grill marks make me feel like Im cheeting on my diet...but Im not :P
I wanna stay bubble2bubble and not be buba2buba :) someday.

any other SD.comers use a grill like this and what do you cook on it???

I've been using a George Foreman for years. Haven't done too much with veggies (probably 'cause I don't eat many), but lots of chicken, burgers, and pork chops. I just upgraded to the new one with the grills that come off and go in the dishwahser. I like that one even better!

Although I don't use a Forman Grill, I do use just about everything else..

Grills, zuccunin is grate, asparagus grilled, but you probably have more reciepes than I as I'm sure there's a book on them with the grill.. but Yes, it is amazing that these, any I guess, grilll can do these days..

My bestest out door cooking, camping, was a Souffle' Grand Marnier...
http://poolesweb.com/cooking.htm
towards the bottom of page...

Word of warning though, you need to be careful on starting out with just a simple outdoor cooking grill.. heheh... Oh sure, one little Grill, what's the harm eh??
But then it's,
hmmm need a table,
hmmm, need an unbrella,
hmmm..need something to keep all the pots and pans in,
hmmmm... and you're hooked..
(just joking of course)

Outdoor Cooking... a slippery slope to be sure... :usflag:
but well worth it if you can share it...

Bon Appetite' :D

The Foreman rocks! Chicken: 3.5 minutes, turn it over for another 3.5 and you're done. Steak, 45-60 seconds and you're eatin'!! Cleaning it is a bit of a PITA though.

I've had one for a few years as well, and my one complaint has been that I couldn't remove the grills. So if they have one that you can remove the grills that's the way to go..

I've cooked lots of stuff on mine, but no vegies or fish (I do fish outside just so I don't smell up the place.

Leave them open when you are done, and when they cool, cats can do a really great job of cleaning them :o

You just think you have trained your cats to stay off counters....

You haven't met my cat.... She is a purebred (read inbred) and not too bright so I have to think that I have actually succeeded. I can leave anything on the counter and it is never disturbed! She is a Himilayan, with all that hair, it would be hard for her to hid the evidence!!

Well, I don't know if the Foreman grill is the same as any other grill but I do have some excellent recipes for grilling. For instance, grilled veggies (eggplant, onion, peppers, zuc, etc.):

2 parts olive oil
1 part balsamic vinegar
diced or pressed garlic
dry mustard (if making 1 c marinade approx 1 t.)
pepper
sea salt (preferably Maldon)

For new potatoes:

prick and microwave in a bowl then toss in olive oil, pepper and sea salt (again preferably Maldon) and then grill. Serve with garlic aoli

For chicken satays:

2 T soya sauce
2 T fresh lemon juice
2 T curry powder
1 T brown sugar
1 T vegetable oil (canola or sunflower)
1/2 t cumin
1/4 t Chinese five spice powder

Finally, grilled ceasar salad:

Romaine hearts drilled in olive oil
heat up ceaser or cremy garlic dressing - if bought note that some heat better than others; oil content helps
brown pine nuts in olive oil, salt and pepper

Grill the lettuce until warm in middle. Drizzle warmed dressing over top and sprikle with pine nuts.

Hope those help!

Eeekk! Microwave?! :cool2:

Is there any way to avoid the microwave without the grilling taking forever?

(Not a big fan of the microwave. I try to use it only for hot chocolate in the winter, and refuse to feel guilty about it since it has no real nutritional value to begin with.)

Any other recipes? I'm always looking for quick and easy alternatives to my wok-style frying pan. :D
