Ok, I am trying to be nice here, but often in threads, I find that walter has this never ending need to nit pick every little error in a post even though most people get the general gist of the discussion. It reeks of arrogance and is not the least bit impressive.

I don't see it. I think Walter's a pretty funny fella, and in my very short time on this forum I've found him to be insightful and helpful.

Just my opinion,

Walter often makes very concise, precise statements that go straight to the heart of the discussion. He's an O.K. bloke that knows an enormous amount about diving and other things. As David says, he can be very helpful.

As for nits; it's a dirty job, but somebody's gotta pick 'em. If you don't, they'll just multiply out of control and plug up your 1st stage. And then pfffft...it's all over.

Actually, Walter is not a moderator. He's the site Administrator. Still it's a difficult job and is made even more difficult with the number of trolls, multiple personalities, other trouble-makers and their collective and intentional provoking and baiting that happens with any site. (One troll on here even says he's from the Vatican...wonder who that could be?)

Oh, you're funny! Thanks for the laugh, drdiver. :teeth:

But seriously . . .

scuba1231,
Perhaps a PM to Walter would be more appropriate (and considerate), if you haven't already done so, rather than creating a thread regarding this.

Having experienced "problems" myself with the moderators (largely of my own making), I've come to understand what a thankless, time-consuming and difficult job they have -- especially with a lively and sometimes opinionated group like us. So my humble thanks go to Walter and the other moderators for putting up with nits like me and keeping it fun for the rest.

Walter has just managed to cram an awful lot of info into one brain in one lifetime. I, for one, don't know how he does it. But, there is a challange here...Sometimes even Walter is wrong. Its been pointed out a couple of times, and he is always quick to admit it.

I find it all part of the fun of the board.

ok gotta say something. I have never known Walter or any of the admins or mods to be an "ego" or to nit pick. It is a tough thankless job to keep this board up and running. They spend way to many hours doing their job only to have people cry and complain about it.

I agree with annasea if you have an issue with another member you should pm them and deal with it in private.

Open forum is not the place to attack another member.

I find Walters insights to be helpful and his knowledge is vast. And yes he is man enough to admit when he is wrong and always willing to help or assist a fellow SDer.

which one RIch???

It is a thankless job they have. I admire the fact that the mods and admins would even volunteer to put up with the bunk that gets served up in here sometimes by the assortment of buttheads, idiots, children and trolls that come blowing in and out.

If the above description fit you at any point, it's my opinion and mine alone!!! Not the one of the management!!!
