The student of one of my buddies posted a question on ScubaBoard recently about wanting to learn how to "make out" under water. Understand he is young (and may not know how to "make out" topside either).
I bring this up because the response on SB was interesting. Several, including at least one moderator, posted that it was a foolish question. Several others thought he was referring to joining the 5 fathom club and criticized him. Here on SD I think he would get a different response.
I was quite surprised that many of the responses assumed "making out" referred to what we (in the dark ages) used to refer as "hitting a home run," "doing IT (has a whole different meaning now, doesn't IT?)," or "going all the way." When I was a younger lad (and had a bod like ZD is rumored to due to all my competitive swimming), if we said we were "making out" it meant little more than prolonged heavy kissing (sigh). You could go beyond that and "pet." Most of us never got a home run though in high school (ah the age of innocence, soon to blossom into the age of free love).
With the differences in sexual mores these days among the young, I'm wondering if "making out" now includes those higher levels of "achievement?" Just what does "making out" mean to you?
I actually understood what Clinton meant when he said he didn't have "sexual relations with that woman." If my parents had asked me if I'd had "sex" on a date, it would mean did I hit a home run? Anything else was pretty much considered "safe" in their eyes. Of course they never asked me, and are still afraid to!
