OK so I have this hood, a vest style one. Now some of you may know that it's tough to get out of the vest!

I was a little overzealous getting out the last time and I ripped the neoprene under the arm pit. :dazzler:

Can I just glue this back together? Should I sew it as well? It does not have to seal against water as the vest is worn under my wetsuit.

Thanks! :teeth:

Pick up some wet suit cement, probably a tube will be way more than enough. Follow instructions... and presto... back in use. If it's not lined with fabric, sewing would not be worth the effort, but you might want to cut the arm hole a little larger if that would alleviate the difficulty of removal. Even with fabric, sewing probably won't be necessary... and special machines are used for that unless you want to try by hand. Depending on the area and thread used, it will reduce the "stretchability" of the suit. Don't use Aquaseal... it's not flexible enough for wetsuits, and will cause further tearing around the repair. Then reseal the cement, place in zip lock bag and remove air before sealing... and place in your save-a-dive kit for future use. It will eventually dry up, but should last awhile. You can get "thinner", but it's hard to "thin" in a tube.

Hope this helps...

Excellent, I did this last night and I'm going diving next Saturday. I think the arm holes are large enough, I just need to work on my technique for removal.

Thanks ITB! :clapping:

My pleasure! Hope it lasts a long time (it should)... but it can be repaired again if needed.

I strugled everyting I tried to remove my hooded tunic,..untill I was diving last fall at crystal river, the DM seen what I was trying, and he showed me a new way, I have since shown my dive buddy's here at home and they all use it now.

We use to try and pull the bottom up to the head untill we could try and wiggle out of it,.the DM's way was to pick an arm (either one,.. and tuck your arm through, and into the chest of the tunic, than just raise your arm causing the tunic to come up and off that side, and the rest is easy,...

Never strugle or tear mine again.
