I have the Highlander (too) and picked the SUV over the truck for % of uses. For me the truck bed is wasted space. BTW if you go for the rubbermaid tub, it's great but remember to bring the lid..... Keeps that neoprene and gear to themselves... zach

I have an '06 highlander and I love it. There's even a storage tray in the back under the floor that holds my wetsuit, fins, weights, mask, etc..... I even keep a pony bottle in there. Overall the highlander gets my vote for best dive vehicle.
I've really gotta get a dry suit so I'm not stuck on the shore this time of year.....

While we're on the subject, there's a company somewhere in the Midwest that makes a product called "Tilt-A-Top". What it does is makes your p/u canopy tilt up from the side, making it much easier to get at gear. I saw one once in this neck of the woods on another divers p/u at a dive shop, I wrote the number and address down but have since lost it. I've Googled it up, down, sideways and can't find it. Apparently the company isn't internet savvy. Anybody know of contact info for this company and product, I would like to have it. Thanks!

Update: I finally found them! But the bad news is they are way overpriced, I don't need one that bad. Check it out for yourself:

Interesting....but then you have to drag your gear up and over the side (???) :wavey:

I had pickup trucks before, they were great for everything. I started with a 4x4 Ranger, then upgraded to a 4x4 F250. I loved them both but the gas... :wavey:

I now have a Ford Focus, great mileage and no car payment, but I am maxed out cargo wise with just my own gear. This year I need to also bring another diver with me on trips.

I am seriously thinking about a Ford Escape Hybrid. If the website is correct it will get better mileage than the car I have now, plus there is plenty of room. My mom has a regualr Escape and so I am familiar with it, a very nice car. The back seats fold down and you can sleep in the back. It drives very tight and is still small enough to fit in the compact car spaces.

Plastic bins keep the smell and wet stuff out of the car, as long as you are somewhat carefull loading them.

I have an '08 VW Sportvan... I never saw it in the US, but I found it when I got to mexico (and since i am now working @ a dive shop, it's perfect.. fits all my gear, I fit in it (6'5" 225lbs), and I have plenty of room for all kinds of other junk.. and best of all, brand new it was under $15K.. which means no car payments!! :wavey:
