Had to put out a big "thank you" to our own Dr. Bill for his gracious tour of Casino Point today. We did about an 80-foot dive to the wreck of the Sue-Jac, along the reefs, and through the kelp forest. Wow! Got a great overview of all the marine life and their behaviors, even saw a couple of huge bat rays today. The viz was wonderful, probably about 50 feet, which made the dive even more spectacular. Thanks again, Bill ... looking forward to diving with you again!

Yeah, I'm still working on getting out there...

One day this year I hope... need to get some shots of the kelp forests...

I still remember off of San Clemente Island on a 3-day trip? out of Long
Beach, looked like a forest with a pasture and the sun rays shooting down...

When I talked to you last weekend you said you were in drydock for two weeks! No offense intended.

Besides, the first two dives of the day were the final ones of my rescue certification, so I only got the last one of the day with Dr. Bill.

Jennifer- good to hear you and Ana are coming out next weekend. I'll be there.

Vis was not great, but certainly better than the previous weekend (and a few others). Kelp is thick and luxuriant after a winter/spring of growth. Bottom temps have been ranging from abot 55-60 at depths of 60-80 ft. No black sea bass sightings yet in the park itself. Bat rays are frequently seen, especially feeding (and thereby destroying vis). Sheep crabs are making their appearance.

Dr. B.

Ps- Thanks for the "thank you" Jamie. It was nice to meet you two and I enjoyed the dive.

Hi Don... thinking of coming out this way again?

After reading your question, I downloaded my computer so I could see yesterday's temps (mine only records min. temp). It was 59-60 degrees at 60-80 feet. I was surprised at the temp since it felt colder while we were diving the Sujac. That is a pretty toasty temp for this time of year. Maybe I need to switch to my 7mm shortie that amused Walter last fall.

Yeah, I'm going out on The Great Escape this fall. Sounds super. I chill more easily than you, so I'm certainly doing my 7 mil, beanie, and maybe a 1 mil skin if it turns any cooler.

:teeth:
Hi Jamie and Dr. Bill ....
I too, want to thank Bill for the tour last Saturday... (I was in the Rescue class with Jamie) I had a wonderful ZEN dive with you guys. (after I fugured out how to hold my camera without tangling in my reg hose ... LOL .. hopefully no one saw that)

Bill, how did your video turn out?? Did the Sheephead "cleaners" come out like you wanted?

Looking forward to meeting and chatting with the folks here.... and hopefully get to do some dive trips too.
