Well here is one of the stories I promised Ill try to keep it short.
Last dive scheduled for trip was a night dive.It had been storming off and on all day I figured the dive would get cancelled.I loaded up my gear and went just in case.On the taxi ride there weather broke and I was hopeful for a great dive.When I got to the boat I was very pleased to see only 2 other couples booked on dive 5 divers plus dm perfect :whistle: Well as we were heading out to divesite the boat captain was talking to other diveboats on their way in and word was fairly strong currents and another possible storm comming in.Captain said we would have to check currents before committing to dive.(good idea)We arrived at divesite and it ws beginning to rain, little light wind,3-4 ft seas,not great but not bad either.We voted to go ahead with dive,since I was oddman out I buddied up with one of the dms.10 minutes into the dive my weight belt came off(rental)I got my belt no problem followed procedure to put it on ,but the end of the belt was frayed so bad I couldnt get it back on(I should have asked for new belt since I had trouble with it on board boat.)anyway I finally pulled weightsoff and put them in bc pockets and continued dive.My buddy found sleeping sea turtle on ledge(the highlight of my trip first turtle).After about a 35 min dive we grouped up for ascent.When we hit the surface all you know what had broke loose.The 3-4 ft seas had become 8ft rollers,it was raining horizontally. :-D This was a first for me.The crew threw a bouys line to grab and pull yourself to boat.Well the one couple made it to boat ok,the other couple did not.When they surfaced he got seasick and went straight for the boat "assuming" his partner was ok,almost big mistake.Im holding onto the line she is behind me holding line but when the boat would go down a swell it would drag you through the water.She lost her regulator out of her mouth,and trying to get her snorkel in she sucked a bunch of water and I could tell by the look in her eyes she was in trouble.She let go of the rope and I grabbed her bc with my free hand.So there I was rope in one hand and her in the other so I couldnt help her get her regulator in.everybody else including dms were already at boat ladder so I had to drop my reg. to yell at dm for assistance with her.once they realized what was happening both dms came back and tried to help me at first thinking I was the one in trouble then they rescue swam her back to boat and helped her in.She was shaken up but ok for the most part.They actually asked if we wanted to continue with the next dive.I didnt want to be in the boat let alone in the ocean.Like I said in another post I have a new found respect for the ocean.

No real point to this story just one of those unforgetable experiences I thought I would share.

Thanks for sharing IP, it is always good to see that when people panic, others around them don't, and are able to help.

Looking forward to more of your Trip Reports.

[color=blue]Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body;
But rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming--"WOW--What a ride!"

I liked it! It sounded like most of the people involved did things right. I hate it when seas kick up while I am under.
A person should be judged in this life not by the mistakes that they make nor by the number of them. Rather they are to be judged by their recovery from them.
