when will you stop bashing SD.

Make no mistake. I am not bashing SD, and I don't think Trimix was either. Neither of us support Athens - and that has nothing to do with SD - or you- specifically. I could make a more logical leap with your comment if this was an SD specific/sponsored trip, but it appears to be a pick-up trip to me, and, oh by the way... I was responding to a question posed to me directly.

Further, I don't think it's wrong to post my opinion... my opinion did not get into the reasons I don't support Athens, although your response could surely dredge up a lot of unnecessary discussion about it. Bottom line is: your opinion is that Athens is worthwhile, mine is that it isn't - for a variety of reasons - I don't consider either of our OPINIONS wrong - just different. Some people like drift dives, some don't. Some people like cold water diving, some don't. Would hate to think that anyone is wrong in these personal opinions!

Athens is a great place to practice compass skills. I was suprised how well I did considering how rusty I was.

I'm with you Mike. I go for the people as much as I do the diving.

I had all good intentions, I did - really. I should be more positive about the item in question, but i'm not, i can't, so i won't. I can't - Its just not in my nature. Sorry.

Some people, greater than I, have the capacity to forgive and forget on everything. Others of us can on almost everything. Its a short coming some of us have, so again my apologizes.

Athens, thusly, is my ackelies heel.

For everyone who must endure my annoyance now and in the future, I apologize now and for the future.

Steve Katie its about Calvin and what happened 9 almost 10 years ago Right( no question mark needed) lets run about two more pages of this, and then we can get back to our regularly scheduled programing. its posible what you are doing is only making this a more popular SD Trip

Since there was no intention to degrade the trip, I hope this thread does indeed increase the popularity of your trip. It's always great to see divers getting together to blow a few bubbles.

It still doesn't change the fact that not going and not supporting the venue has nothing to do with SD - and only to do with the location. I don't think it's a great idea for you to open the can of worms about the circumstances. If I recall correctly, there was another post that got a stern "we will not talk about the details of the events from the past" related to this topic.

I only see you reacting negatively to what was otherwise a simple post.

For those attending the Oct 8th SD/Fun Days at Athens Tx.

I hope you will keep an open mind in finding some different ways to entertain ourselfs above and below the water while we are there. one thing we might do is take advantage of the low vis and have a treasure hunt. I have talked with calvin and he is putting together some really Cool prizes to give away for any contest we can come up with. also if you have a compass but never learned how to use it you can ask some of those who do. thats really the whole thing about our SD get together is to share Info and Fun plus BBQ some food over a grill, camp in the Great Outdoors wake-up and dive in the lake. some of us will be there friday late afternon and I would imagine most of you will get there saturday and stay for the day or camp with us saturday night. we could even work on a SD theme song around the campfire? Who Knows

Was it Rodney King or that white guy that got beat up about the same time? I was just thinking of that this afternoon.....everyone seems a bit on edge on this post and others.
