The best day I ever had was face to face with a man and a shark, and wondering who was gonna bite me first- Poison Pen

Hey why does your SO not dive? Not interested? The water is too cold where you live? You are a tech diver and all that stuff overwhelms him/her?
Tell us why your SO doesn't dive...who knows...they might just surprise you and try the sport afterall! That is if you let them and encourage them!
Quoting SO:
"It's not a hot tub."
"It's in more than 4' of water?"
"You're crazy, I am not. Accept it!"
"Have fun diving dear. Is the locator beacon on your equipment working?"
"There's something past the beach with the hot sand?"
"Doug, 78f is cool. 34f is certifiable."
"Go under the ice with me around and you won't have any to freeze off!"
"I love you."
If I believe one, I have to accept and believe all.
Ps. She did go snorkelling in Cozumel last February. She did it to appease my wishes.

Being underwater is what gets her. Close call as a kid and just can't get by it. I finally got her to snorkle at Turks & Cacios which she LOVED! One step at a time I guess.
That's how I got started. I was never a big water person but I had been on a couple of Windjammer trips and got into snorkeling. That led to seeing divers, then asking a few questions to being in the water on a Discover Scuba. Two years later, I'm Adv OW/Nitrox and wreck diving in a dry suit. Bring on the sharks!!!

The reason my wife doesn't dive is that she just isn't the athletic type. I used to try to coax her into my sports, but finally gave up the day I tried to teach her to snow ski. It started with her falling on the bunny lift and taking five other skiers down with her. Figuratively speaking, it went downhill from there. The fact that she insisted on carrying her purse over her shoulder on the slopes didn't help.
The good news is that she hasn't tried to stop me from participating in the activities I enjoy, and I've done the best I can to reciprocate. We seem to have somewhat grudgingly learned to respect each others hobbies and activities while watching from a comfortable distance.

I posted this in the Married But Buddiless thread, but it might be even better placed here.

Waterproof purses...now that would be interesting!
As for diving vs other sports...diving is a whole lot easier than skiing...I know...I own LOTS of ski gear...and EVEN MORE diving gear! Besides I never saw anything as pretty as the ocean when I was swooshing down the slopes...even when I managed to get down the slope on my skis and not my butt!!
